Glad you could make the show....so kick back and relax, put yer heels up.
Where to start.....hmmm.....okay, what makes a Monster a Monster??

Thanks for havin me on the show Doc. Man that is is a real casket full of questions right off the start. Let me grab a cold beverage here."pop" Let's see. I guess society would call something/someone a monster if it fell waaaay out of the realm of the norm. A werewolf is a monster, Bigfoot's a monster but so were humans like Pol Pot , Stalin and Countess Bathory but in a different sense of the word.

What or who were yer favorite Monster/Idols growing up??

I saw most of the Uni monsters on Chicago's Creature Features. So I was a fan of Frankie , The Wolfman etc. I really wasn't that interested at the time on who the actors were. Even at 9 or 10 I thought the Mummy films were just plain boring. I really enjoyed and still do overall the movies from the 50s a little more compared to the Uni monsters. Big bugs, Ymir, Beast from 20,00 Fathoms. The first time I saw War of the Colossal Beast I broke out my G.I Joe Adventure Team figures and terrorized them. >:D. I know they are really different genres but a movie like The Wolfman is creepy where the Ymir is cool and fun

When and what was yer first Monster Movie experience??

That I remember distinctly. I was just barely 4 and had just come in from playing with my friend on the next street. My dad and older brother and sister were watching King Kong on the afternoon movie. I caught it just in time to see Kong escape into NY. That was SO cool. So you can guess what I did after dinner. Broke out my plastic army guys and pretended I was Kong.

Do you prefer the color or the B&W Horror movies??

Depends what I'm in the mood for. Anything creepy and atmospheric such as an old dark house type film would generally be better in B/W. I think if you were to colorize any of the classics they would probably lose something. If I want big action horror I prefer color. Dog Soldiers would suck in B/W. Dead Silence, which I love would still work very well.

Have ya seen the new Wolfman?? and what's yer take on it??

Nope, haven't seen it yet. I have not even been in a theater in over 10 years. I have been meaning to see this but always have something going on on the weekends.

what is yer favorite type of Monster?? and why??

That is a really tough question since I like a big variety. If we keep to the basic monsters I guess I'd go with werewolves. I'd like to see the ones from Dog Soldiers battle the vampires from 30 Days.

How has the monster movie business changed since you were a kid??

Lack of imagination ,too much CG and lack of character development in many movies. I'm not a big fan of slasher movies aside from the classics like the first Halloween , First couple Freddies etc. Then all the copycats came out and it became so formulaic and redundant.
Obviously you need CG in some of the monster movies especially where it's a big fricken creature. Like in Jurassic Park for example.I like to see more brand new monsters being developed rather than all the remakes.

Are you a big collector of Monster Memorabilia??

No,not in the true sense of the word. I do have a early 70s Creature Features promo card. I collect magazines like Scary Monsters,Monsters From the Vault and such. I'm primarily into newer mask/hand sets and larger props. I'm you've seen some of the pics I've put on the UMA in various places.

If you were stranded on an Island, and could only take 3 items, what would they be??

Totally hypothetical question here. I don't do boats and live nowhere near an ocean. Assuming I did end up on one, found shelter and had plenty of food and beverages  ;). I'd have to have a big stock pile of horror books and monster mags to pass the time. An AR-15 with plenty of ammo and gun cleaning kit in case there were any monsters on it. A good medipac in case said monster kicked my ass.

"Announcer" And now it's time to go to a word from our sponsor.

So,wicked...are there any Creatures,Ghosts, or other Paranormal things you believe in??

Well Doc,this is a subject I could talk a loooong time on. So in a nutshell from my own research and experience I do not totally dismiss , shall we say, bizarre mutant offbreeds of various creatures that could be looked on as zoological mutant living in the wilds. Paranormal? I live with it. I have been into and involved in the occult and ghostly things for decades. We had at my present home an incident a couple days ago where my wife dropped something behind a bookshelf. We pulled it out along with the ajoining book stand and it was no where to be found. No way it could have rolled anywhere. Things like this happen in spurts. 3 things in a week then nothing for a couple mos then an In-Your-Face big one ,then subtle stuff for a year. The neighbors have a few things goin on and I believe it is all mostly residual haunting phenom./color]

I've seen ya post in the Metal Thread many times, are you or were you ever in a Band??

Nope. Used to be able to do the Death Metal growls years ago. Never learned to play. Tho almost 30 years ago I had what is now called gothic/death and black metal going thru my head in self made late at night scores. Therion,Tristania,Sigh etc. I did it in my head 15-20 years before they did for real. I have always thought that huge metal sympho stuff + pro classical /opera was a major force to reckoned with and it is now selling very well and very popular out of the mainstream. Try checking out Russian/Baltic States metal rock operas. AMAZING!

If Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff fought, who would win??

Neither, they are both dead. But I would say Bela if his fix was just kicking in.

You mentioned collecting and reading Books and Mags, what about comic books??

Yes,I have about 4000 pages of DC and Marvel reprints I have collected in the B/W volumes + another 2000 pages in EC reprints as well as a couple horror comic Cds.

What do you think about these "Remakes" of Classic Horror movies??

Some are pretty good and some are horrible. The original The Day the Earth Stood Still was AWESOME. The remake all wrong and it should have been much better considering the budget. RZs Halloween? Too bloody but it had a good background on Mikey altho it had many plot flaws.

Who is yer favorite Horror Director and why??

Can't answer that cuz I do not have one. There are many good horror directors from the 30s to now. Most of the prominent have had both GREAT stuff and total suckage.

Say Doc,I'm gonna pop another beer , er cold bev-erage as we go to a commercial.

Good Afternoon UMAniacs...........our next victim,er...guest is .....I am the Female Dracula

(Band music plays)  "APPLAUSE"

"Good afternoon...IATFD...how are you?"

Alright, lets get down to business, shall we.....

What made you chose the UMA?
Who got you interested in Monster Movies?
What is yer favorite Classic Horror and Modern Horror movie?
Who is yer favorite Horror Actor/Actress?
Do you collect Monster Movie Memorabilia?
Castle or Hammer??
Dracula: Lugosi or Lee?
Who would win in a fight, Jason or Michael??
What other Hobbies do you enjoy?

I am the Female Dracula

Hello Doctor....  >:D
I'll try and answer your questions as best I can...

I didn't really choose the UMA. It choose me! I think I typed 'Elizabeth Shepherd' into Google along with some other keyword (I forget) and up came 'Elizabeth Shepherd, still acting!', a thread at the website UMA. So I clicked on it and... I could never leave UMA again. I signed up even though I hadn't seen any Classic monster movies. I just knew I was a fan of Vincent Price, Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone & Peter Lorre. Little did I know how much my life would change...

No-one really got me interested in Monster Movies, but my dad introduced me to Vincent Price. Actually ZZ Top did, and then dad showed me 'Masque of the Red Death', which made me watch 'House on Haunted Hill', 'Tales of Terror' and 'Tomb of Ligeia'. Then over the summer I bought 'Theatre of Blood' and 'The Raven' which led me onto Karloff and then onto Frankenstein..... Also my dad bought the 'Ultimate Hammer Collection' which introduced me to Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing...

My favourite Classic Horror... I assume it doesn't have to be a monster one? Oh no! Well I suppose I have to pick 'House on Haunted Hill'. I've seen it about 8 times and love it just the same each time.

Oh no! These questions keep gettin' harder! I love Vincent Price indecently, but I also think Peter Cushing is great as Baron Frankenstein. I would probably say Hazel Court is my favourite horror actress, but I think Carol Ohmart and Barbara Shelley are good too.

I don't really collect memorabilia, but I did buy rare Tales of Terror lobby cards off eBay and also a Taste the Blood of Dracula screenshot. Does that count?

AAAAAHHH! William Castle I assume? v.s. Hammer? I've seen so many Hammer films, but there's always something they get wrong. I've seen the Tingler and House on Haunted Hill, and I love both of them for their ridiculous storylines. However, Hammer's got more output so I'll go for them.

Dracula, to me, is Christopher Lee. But Lugosi is quite good, I just thought he was a bit overdramatic. I liked his portrayal though- Lee is a bit angsty and angry all the time.

Hmm... bearing in mind I haven't seen Halloween or Friday 13th... I'll say Jason.

Nothing. Watching horror movies, and movie in general is my life. I do like to write poetry and short stories, read books and play piano & drums. Not to mention drinking people's blood.

"Supernatural? Perhaps. Baloney? Perhaps not. There are many things under the sun...."

Dr.Teufel Geist

Hmmmm....poetry and short stories?
Maybe some time you could post some of yer works here?
Color or B&W..which do you prefer?
Do you like non horror classic movies?
Are you a fan of silent Horror?
What sort of books do you like to read? Genre?
ZZ Top introduced you to Vincent Price??

I am the Female Dracula

Maybe, maybe..

Colour or B&W? I don't know. Some films just work in colour, others just work in black & white. I do like the black & white ones slightly better though, yet the glory of technicolour! I can't decide.

Non horror classic movies? I love any film with Gene Tierney in it, particularly Laura, Leave Her To Heaven and Where the Sidewalk Ends. Mysteries are always fun.

I've only seen one silent film, and that was 'The Man Who Laughs'. I loved it very much, but is it horror?

I like to read historical novels like the Lady Grace Mysteries and the Roman Mysteries. Also I read biographies and autobiographies- The Hammer story, the Lost One: Life of Peter Lorre, Hazel Court-Horror Queen, etc.

ZZ Top's song 'Vincent Price Blues'. I was playing Sims 2, trying to lock them in a house and set them on fire while first listening to Rhythmeen, and I couldn't really hear what he was singing. I looked at the title and had no idea who this guy was so I googled him. And there the obsession started....
"Supernatural? Perhaps. Baloney? Perhaps not. There are many things under the sun...."

Dr.Teufel Geist

lock them in a house and set fire to them?
okay....I shall not go there.
Well boils and ghouls..that's all the time we have, I wanna thank IATLD for stopping by and hanging out with us here.
"Are there any last words...you would like to say?"

"While IATLD says her last words....I would like to send an open invitation to Daniel Roebuck to stop by and chat."

Doc grabs the book of matches from the table and shoves them into his pocket...
"Goodnight kiddies.."

I am the Female Dracula

Thanks for having me on the show!

I would just like to say that the UMA has totally changed my life for the better. I'm amazed at how many films I've seen, and even more shocked that I still have many more left to enjoy! Thank you everyone.
