I've sent PMs to the following previously active posters who've not logged onto UMA for nearly a year or more but have not yet received a reply:
horrorhunter
Sean
CreepysFan
RedKing
Pauspy

InkFink
Weldonmc

Truthfully I'm now worried about some of these posters. Does anyone have regular contact with any of these posters elsewhere? Are they still in good health?
???
Horror Hunter was caring for an ailing mother. I hope he's ok. The others, I have not heard a word. I wish them all the best. Come back.
People need to leave instructions in their wills, or with a family member, to contact their favorite internet haunts about their deaths (or a serious illness), if they wish people to know why they dropped off the Earth. I've left something in my papers that won't be hard to find. Include your passwords!

I actually received an email from horrorhunter today concerning some dinosaur playset questions....so he's okay!
I've been exchanging PMs with Scatter, Opera Ghost and horror1o1 who are fine but either too busy or otherwise not inclined to post.

I still remember the first time a good friend of mine dissapeared from the internet completely, he was gone in multiple sites and a couple of years later, he logged in on one of the sites for a couple of hours and disappeared to never been seen again (i wonder if it was him?), i felt really worryed about him and now, after 11 years i still think on him and wonder where is him.
Is really nice to see you guys worryed about other member of this comunity, it really shows how close and focus is this place. I hope this missing people appeare soon tough.

Interesting. Where in Kasas?
Sightings seem to concentrate around the middle of the state in the whereabouts of Salina. The local authorities may perhaps be able to provide you with more precise info. Scary all around though.

Im doing this, although I only "frequent" less than a handfull of places. Ive also putting EXP,ICIT instructions that my collection not be sold off after my death. Its to be dontaed to someone or someplace or destroyed. Im not allowing my death to create a feeding frenzy. Ive seen far too many collectors pass who's stuff is just sold off while the person is totally forgotten.
"Destroyed" is an outrageously bad idea! Why would you countenance even the thought of such outright vandalism, whether dead or alive? You seem so determined that nobody profit from your collection that you're fine with the concept that your items no longer even exist for others to enjoy.

Horrorhunter uses McAfee for virus protection. Just like Skully he's able to read the posts but he's prevented from logging in as a member.
I get "insecure" messages myself warning me that my log-in info could be compromised to which my response is "So what?" I use BitDefender for virus protection.

Waves from Sydney, Australia. We have done a great job of flattening the curve, here, and restrictions are easing (as of today - and some more next week, to start with). Some of us wish we could all do just a few more weeks of lockdown and vanquish the virus completely, but people are getting tired of only their own company. To do this on the heels of a prolonged drought, threats of climate change, then bushfires (just as predicted and then much worse) and putrid air quality, it has been very taxing. But we are also grateful our government (and New Zealand's) have been so responsive. I think they were caught on the hop with the bushfires, so they lifted their game at just the right time.
A zombie movie with Brad Pitt was screening last night and it was just too spooky to watch in this environment.
Stay safe everyone.

Quote from: Mcdee on April 19, 2009, 09:47:04 AMHi everyone...My name is Denis McDougall, I live in Calgary Alberta and have been a Universal Monster Fan ever since my Dad let me watch Frankenstein on the old B/W tv a million years ago and then along came Aurora and the Monster Models...the rest is history...I'm an avid collector of Monster Models and have all the Auroras,PL's, Monarch & Moebius kits...but still not satisfied I'm on a mission to aquire the Aurora Prototypes that were never released and so far have been able to get the Hanging Tree, MOTM Fay Wray, and MOTM Metaluna Mutant...bjut there are more and so the Quest continues!...I'm a Dad of 7 (6Boys-1Girl) and a Granddad...55 years old and still an Aurorakid...I'm also a Construction Supervisor...as long as I'm building something ...I'm happy... be it Models or actual buildings...I used to play in a band on weekends ,good times ...Hey it's Great to meet you all!
Here on 25 January 2018 he described some of the health problems he'd developed:
Quote from: Mcdee on January 25, 2018, 11:08:42 AMThanks for the well wishes guys.... I was diagnosed last year with COPD, emphysema stage 1 and to top it off Asbestos crystalline throughout my lungs (It all stems from my 44 year construction career) I had a few convulsive moments gasping for air in December and that bought me a 3 week stay in the hospital... I'm an outpatient at the moment and on Oxygen and Hydromorpnone I'm on short term disability from my Company which will probably turn into long term.... Right now I'm loving life and using up my free time immersing myself in building and painting Monster models ....
I exchanged emails/PMs with him last fall when he was having severe mobility and other problems because of his lung issues but I'd not heard any more from him since early December.
I just received an email from him this morning though! His health problems have prevented him from getting down to his computer to access UMA but he's going to try to reconfigure his bedroom to make room for a computer he can access.

Quote from: Hepcat on April 13, 2013, 10:40:16 PMNot only that but a lot of those movies are straight slasher flicks and slasher flicks just don't fit the sci-fi category. Nor do a lot of horror films.

Sorry. I don't do modern pop culture references. I'm too busy reading and engaging in polite discourse on message boards.
Quote from: Frankenmarx on April 14, 2013, 11:23:22 AMOf course you do, or you wouldn't know it was a pop culture reference. You are right about one thing...you are WAY too busy "engaging in discourse" in forums. Listen, tool...you're clearly not the idiot your posts seem to make you out to be. You're a small man with issues and problems with self-esteem. I get that, but trying your best to feign superiority and passive-aggressively condescending to people is annoying. You DO excel at it, however, and from the incredible group of PMs I've gotten thanking me for saying what they all want to say but refuse to waste the time on, you have gathered quite a group of detractors. Jackasses like you are commonplace in forums. A good dose of seeing you in your natural habitat would quiet you down, I'm sure. As for my rhetoric, I like to toss in crass, albeit appropriate descriptors for effect. You can continue to play the passive-aggressive game in fear of being removed from your beloved forum. I'll type what I think...and someone will remove it, I'm sure. I have an awful habit of being honest. You are an ass...a pompous ass. It took me two of your posts to see it clearly, and most of the others here seem to already know. I won't be wasting this much time again. Enjoy the negative attention while it lasts, d bag. Moderators, if you remove this, you should remove all inflammatory remarks.
Unbelievable! An all out personal attack after I'd made a seemingly innocuous statement! Evidently I'd offended Frankenmarx's sensibilities in another thread with the statement that I wasn't much into studying/analyzing films (or novels) because for me they're strictly forms of entertainment. But his statement about receiving PMs from other members supporting his unprovoked attack was very disturbing.

Quite a bitter drag-out fight. I'm glad that was seven years ago. The insults have been less personal, recently. I've been divisive in the past. Sorry. Life is too short to dwell on petty differences. Hep, we've had a few disagreements in the past. I hope you realize that I truly have the utmost respect for you and enjoy an occasional spar ( you usually win). Anyway, we're in the same mindset. Let's enjoy each other's company.

I was bewildered by it all though. He was a relatively new poster with whom I'd had almost no interaction, and then he started slagging me hard right out of the blue. Like I say, I think my previous comment that "Books(i.e. Novels) should be read and not analyzed" really irked him in another thread. Perhaps he was an "English lit" teacher.

Quote from: marsattacks666 on January 14, 2020, 10:22:08 PMThe last time I actually chatted or corresponded with Missdead13, was about a year ago via Facebook. She was doing fine and still collecting.
Somebody contact Missdead13 and ask her why she's on Facebook and not here.

I use to.know her, years ago. I wonder why she is on facebook
I must have replied in the wrong thread, somehow. I was replying regarding some dramatic back and forth from a million years ago. I'm not good at keeping up with forums, etc. Anyway, in case anyone was up at night worrying about me, I'm alive and looking for another Yeti...and some Marx walkers like Amos n Andy. Hope everyone is wonderful.

I'm sad to report that Weldonmc passed away in 2018. I've really missed Weldon's presence here on this board. His posts added incredible life and colour to this thread and others. Here's his obituary thread in the Cemetery:

I truly miss Unknown Primate/ Mark.
Does anyone know what happened to the Phantom Creep? He posted a completely over-the-top wild cool monster room/collection in December 2007:

But hasn't been around since July 2009.

Does anyone know how NekroDave is doing? He had a hissy fit in response to criticism of Sideshow's business model and hasn't logged in since March 2010.

Quote from: BigShadow on December 29, 2019, 02:45:10 PMHas anybody heard from BlackLagoon? He hasn't been on since 2014. He was super active, then just dropped off the face of the earth. I know he was from New Jersey.
Any sightings of BlackLagoon in recent years?
???
What ever happened to HarryHammock?

I haven't heard from him since 2014. There was a big hurricane that hit New Jersey, where he lived. I messaged him to make sure he was all right, and he replied back that he was. Prior to the hurricane he was super active, after he dropped off the radar.
I've not been able to get let alone log into UMA with Google Chrome on my Windows 8 equipped home computer for a number of weeks. Here at the library though I have no problem logging into UMA using Firefox. I'll try some other web browsers at home and see if they work.

UMA needs interesting posts like the ones you've done for years. Hopefully the
glitching times are done and we can get back to daily traffic posting about classic monster toys, comics, mags, and movies again. The new stuff is okay, but the heart and soul of UMA is the classic stuff (1970s and earlier). Compared to just a few years ago this place seems like a tomb. cl:)
Hmmmmm. So I'm fine using Firefox on my home computer. Very strange indeed.
