Since so many people seem to enjoy pictures of junk, I will give you another helping.
Here are authentic replica shrunken heads, direct from the land of the Amazon.

Here is an odd assortment of stuff from the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Here are some closer shots of specific items so you can soak in their glory.
I love that Smokie Skull. The same toy used to be available in vending machines as "Smokie Joe." I always wanted one as a kid.
This rubber "Willie" worm below is from 1950. What a strange toy. It's just a little sliver of rubber glued to a card.
I think those inflatable "pillows" are 70s, but I'm just guessing.
Oh wait, there's a copyright on them. It says 1974. I didn't even notice until I looked at the picture just now.
This weird sex joke novelty is probably from the 50s. It might have a copyright date somewhere, but I can't be bothered to check. My time is too valuable.
What's under that foam "flying saucer?" A hideous space creature. Best to leave it to your imagination.
I have lots more dime store junk to show you. I'll just keep throwing more pictures into this thread until y'all get bored with it.
Oh, no. We've encouraged him and now he's never going to stop...
Just kidding! I think it's cool to see all this weird old novelty stuff. I dig the shrunken heads, and the artwork on those "pillows" is really appealing. And "Sex Creatures from Outer Space!?" Now I think I've seen everything.
Okay, I'm not burned out yet. More junk, more junk! Geez, I sound like Terry now... :D
So, are ya gonna lift the flying saucer and let us see the sex creature or what?
I bought a big plastic jar of those blue-tagged "jivaro" shrunken heads from a toy store that was going out of business about 10 years ago--at least 3 dozen of them. At the same time I got a bunch of small jigglers, plastic clips that looked like ears, balloons, rubber fish skeletons, witch fingers, harmonicas, etc, etc. They've all left the house as Halloween treats except the shrunken heads and 15 or so hula girl push-button puppets.
I agree with the previous post, we all need to see the Sex Creature from Outer Space!
I love seeing this kind of stuff as it always reminds me of when I was a kid in the late '60's and early '70's begging my mom for a dime or quarter to get a prize from the vending machines. One of my favorite stores in Chicago is "Uncle Fun" that is choked to the rafters with treasures like this. They also have a website here: http://www.unclefunchicago.com/ .
Last time I was there I picked up a shrunken head, skull, two "winged skulls" and my wife bought me a robot. I need to go back and pick up some more supplies.
Novelty shrunken head from the 1950s. It is slightly bigger in size and more detailed than the 60s/70s heads.
Gotta love those heads. They don't make them as cool now.
Wow, Great Stuff Ray! Love the shrunkin heads!
As for the sex creature, I couldn't imagine how long I would have been grounded for bringing that home as a kid.
Bk
Great Stuff! Please keep it coming.
Man, I haven't thought of those pocket skeleton hands In years. Leave it to you Ray, to dig up the childhood memories. By all means, please keep exhuming more goodies from the buried past.
OK, time for more junk.
Plop.
It's primarily Halloween and disguise stuff. I like the artwork on the Devil's Teeth and Nails set. It's in the Goth-icky book, as is some of the other package art in this thread.
Those flicker-eye masks are cool. And look at the Ygor face on that Horror Teeth card.
That carded blood and scar kit is from Topstone. And look at the cool Frankenstein artwork on those glow nails. Those Evil Eyes look like Imagineering, but they are not. Imagineering had a lot of imitators. By the way, you'll be seeing plenty of genuine Imagineering in this thread very soon.
I remember that carded Devil makeup from my childhood. I know I saw that very same art. And I remember seeing that Fun Light, too. I don't remember seeing the Trick'r Treat glasses, but that card is cool.
There ya go. Stay tuned to this thread for more JUNK!
Great stuff! Where do you get all this from Ray?
I'm diggin' that black cat "Halloween Decoration." I love old school Halloween decorations. They're just so...cool! Everything Halloween related should be black and orange. Ah, the old days!
-Andy
Great stuff Ray. Thanks for posting.
When I was a kid I used to take a bus to the downtown area on Saturdays to visit my Dad at work.
Then I would just walk around, haunting the magazine shops and taking in a movie.
Near the center of downtown (an area called Five Points), there was a little shop called The Trick Novelty Shop.
This place was CRAMMED to the rafters with weird stuff. This was late 50s / early 60s.
I remember having a few magic trick items from the shop, and the ubiquitous plastic puddle of vomit.
Also a little rubber "monster" comprised of two feet, two hands, and a head. The parts were not attached to each other; rather they were meant to be bent around things like lamp shades (head and hands on top, feet peeking around the bottom of whatever-object-you-were-sticking them to. I recollect that this particular item was called a "Kubitzer" (sp?).
Here is another bunch of junk. This time it's all rubber jigglers.
Below, on the right you see bagged Ugly Stickers jigglers. One of these days I'll do a thread just on these critters. I have two counter display boxes full of them, plus these bagged ones.
Here are some bagged De Horribles and carded Spooky Kooky jigglers.
I got ripped off on the Kookies. I bought five of them and got three. The seller kept saying they were in the mail, then said he hadn't mailed them yet but he would tomorrow (this went on for weeks), then said he had a supplier who was in the hospital, then said he would refund my money, then stopped answering my e-mails.
Below are a couple of cool carded jigglers from honest sellers. The dragon is from Imperial and Spidey is Ben Cooper.
I really like the "Sea Monster" vending machine display card. I got that from Andy Williams, another honest seller.
When I was a kid and visited my grandparents in Collinsville, Ill., they would take me to a little clothing store that had vending machines with cool jigglers. One of them was this Sea Monster assortment. It must have been there at least a couple years. I got the shark, the whale and the swordfish. My brother might have got a dolphin. I don't think we ever got any turtles. Since Andy lives in Illinois, I have to wonder if this could be the very same card! Who knows.
Finally, we have some more miscellaneous jigglers. The bat is probably the same kind sold in those comic book ads. That bagged PVC Animal is another Ugly Stickers jiggler.
So are you guys getting tired of junk? I got more if you want it.
MORE JUNK! ;D
Alone.........BAD. Junk GOOD!
The Vampire Blood, rubber lizards and spiders, what memories these bring. And I may be wrong, but I remember the scar stuff coming in a round container. The "De Horribles" jigglers are wicked, don't remember those. The ones I had fit on your finger. Damn it Ray, now you've got me all nostalgic for more stuff from my childhood. Time to hit evil-bay some more. And no I not tired of all this "Junk" yet. I'm enjoying this thread, so from Dickens: "Please sir, may I have some more."
You're thinking of Imagineering Scar Stuff in the round container. I'll be sharing Imagineering stuff in this thread very soon.
Now that's what I'm waiting for. More junk Ray, especially the Imagineering stuff. :D
Good stuff. The horor Teeth package looks kinda like Ygor.
Me need more! More Junk! ;D
Tonight I have some Fun World Halloween junk for you:
I grew up on this stuff. Every Halloween, I looked forward to seeing that ghost logo on the Fun World packaging.
I love that cute little ghost!
I do believe he is smiling just for me! He is saying, come on Raymond, let's have a fun Halloween this year!
That Scare 'em Gun is pretty cool, even though there's no pleasant ghost on the box.
They made a lot of little bendie figures and jigglers.
I like how that devil has a skull he can carry. I also like that cartoon witch on the header card.
I also have some Fun World rubber masks that I didn't photograph. Well, you can see there is a bagged Wolf Man mask in the shot, but I have other, more elaborate Fun World rubber masks.
My "holy grail" Fun World Halloween item is a devil hand puppet with water-filled rolling eyes. He came in a bag with that cute ghost header card. I had him as a kid. I probably still have him somewhere, but his eyes are missing. Andy Williams has a Frankenstein from the same set. I don't remember if there were other characters. If anyone has that devil in a bag, I want him!
My Fun World collection is still in its infancy. Hopefully it will grow in the years to come. If civilization does not crumble first.
That's all the junk for tonight. Next up: Imagineering.
Cool junk. I want to get a set of those finger puppets some day. I really like that Frankenstein in the set.
Our next bunch of junk needs no introduction. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: IMAGINEERING!

Imagineering? Oh, yeah. I remember seeing some of this cool stuff from the WF display last year. Was that all from your collection, Raymond?
And as always, if you have more junk to share, please do! ;D
Yes, all the Imagineering stuff in the display last year came from my collection.
Oh yeah, THIS is the stuff. I had every one of these as a kid with the exception of the lashes. I had forgotten how much the illustration on the packaging looked like "School House Rock". I had a Cyclops Eye with a suction cup, that you stick on your forehead. Wasn't that from Imagineering as well? I don't know how many times I've bought the Vampire Kit during my childhood. These were necessities growing up in the `70's. Excuse me, I have tears in my eyes.
Brother, where DO you sleep?? Is there space left at the casa to even stand?? LOVE IT!!
Great stuff Ray! Do you live in a large house? You must to be able to store all the wonderful stuff in your collection ;D
I'm so glad this group exists! Where else could one see all this great stuff? Keep on showin' us your junk, Ray!
Hey -- that didn't sound quite right....

My name ain't Ernest Borgnine!
No, I don't live in a big house. It's very modest in size. And very jumbled with JUNK. I don't have one of those spiffy monster rooms. I just have a house full of JUNK! Like Fred Sanford.

Ray will flash you his junk for free, but it'll cost you to actually TOUCH his junk.
QuoteI just have a house full of JUNK!
I have a great idea! Let's all to his house with some grocery bags and hep him dig through his "junk". I'm sure there are things there that he totally forgot about and we can take them. And just think how clean his house would be!
But we've got to get him out of his house somehow. Any ideas?

Maybe. I suppose I could use a life-size Coffin Joe for my collection. :D
Some more junk came in. Don't know what I'll do with so much junk. But here it is. More junk.

This looks to be more recent, but I like that Chris Lee artwork.

A cute rubber panther, made in Hong Kong. He squeaks.
I had one of these squashed rats as a child. This is very rubbery and oily. It came in that plastic bag underneath it.
Those rubber gorillas are made in China, so the heck with them.
Really great stuff Ray,keep it coming!
The plaster skull is very interesting- it looks to be a Randotti Pirates skull knock-off...cast off an original? (the son of the original owners has said there were alot of recasts of his parents stuff back when)
I've never seen one with a 'ruby' eye (that I remember), but a nice touch.
Wow, a squashed rat. That's pretty funny. If something like that were made today, I wonder if PETA would be all up in arms over it?
I think we ought to make some rubber squashed PETA members.
Hell, strike the rubber part. Let's make some squashed PETA members, period. ;)
Mike C.
Tor Love Junk. More Junk.....
Ew. A dead rat with its insides leaking out. You didn't crush it with a boulder, did you? :D
I wish I had one of those to stick on the kitchen table for April Fool's day. My mom's reaction would be priceless.
Keep that junk coming!
Awesome pics. Keep them coming!
UMMM
I'll pass on the squashed rat.
I have another heaping helping of steaming JUNK coming right up. Get your plates ready.

Several interesting things here. I really like the cheesiness of the werewolf hands. They are just two clumps of fur on a flimsy card.
An Imperial Frankenstein magnetic disguise kit and a Ben Cooper caveman jiggler.
Those skull specs are cool, but I really like the artwork on that red werewolf card.
And now something different:
This is a 70s Jaws bank. Unlicensed, of course. It's got a little slot on top its head for the coins. It reminds me of the Ideal Jaws game.
Now what's this, a box of Star Wars figures? That's what it says right there on the side.
But when you open the box, wait a minute, those don't look like Star Wars figures.
That box is only half full. Where are the rest of the toys? Oh, here they are:
These are rubber jiggler versions of the Diener alien "erasers" that were included in Happy Meals and sold on cards in stores. They are a little smaller than the Diener eraser versions, and made of a softer, oily rubber. This box would have sat on the counter of a children's dentist or doctor's office. I remember boxes like this at my dentist's office, filled with little rubber toys and the kind of little novelty items you found in vending machines.

Rob
Those poor werewolf hands... they look like rejected Brillo pads. :D
It looks like those little aliens have suction cups on them. Did you try sticking any of them to the wall?
The box of "Star Wars" figures seems to contain some hybrid versions of I Married a Monster from Outer Space and Invasion of the Saucer Men...
Love the junk. The WOLFMAN VAMPIRE TEETH are awesome. And who could resist the WOLMAN HANDS? Thank you once again for sharing this great junk. Peace.
Hmmm...What part of the body do you suppose the hair for those werewolf hands were taken from?
Bravo! I'm loving this junk show-n-tell. Bring out more junk. This is fun.
Great stuff! Really dig those werewolf hands!

I used to get those Diener aliens at my Doctors as a matter of fact. I had to get allergy shots once a week or so as a kid so I was able to get quite a few of them before the "treasure chest" contained something else.

Guys, this is a family oriented website. However, I guess there's no stopping Raymond from running around with his junk out for everyone to see. He seems to want to show his junk to anyone who'll look at it. I've never seen anyone so proud of their junk.

I love 70s Fun World Halloween toys. The Screechers came from HHWolfman. Thanks Howard!

This is the piece that most interests me. It is apparently a bagged AHI sparking Godzilla. It doesn't say "AHI" anywhere on the package, but it has the Super Monsters name and AHI-styled fonts and artwork. It's the original version of the toy. The feet have toes, unlike the later ones.

Absolutely love the Uggly Wugglies, used to buy those all the time. Also have owned the suction third eye before. As usual really great stuff there Ray, thanks for sharing these treasures.
Ray,do you display all this stuff or is it packed up and you take stuff out as needed?
Interesting how you notice things in a photo that you don't notice when you actually have the toy in your hands. On the vending card, I see that the finger in the upper right corner is coming off the card. Didn't notice that until I saw the photo.
But more interestingly, look at the foil sticker at the lower right of the Screechers card.

"Give toys for safe trick or treating." Even then, they were worried about razor blades and poison in Halloween candy. I remember parents started worrying about that the last couple years I was trick or treating. Earlier, I don't remember it being an issue. But my last couple Halloweens, my parents had to scrutinize the candy and toss out anything "suspicious."

Right now, this junk is just lying around on the floor, kind of like you see in the photos. But the rest of the junk in this thread is packed in boxes. Those boxes are pretty full, so I need to start a new box.
I have one of those ridiculous Sideshow premium format Creatures. I just keep it in the box, since I have no place to display it. So I have this big, dumb box standing like a 2001 monolith in my bedroom, obstructing my freedom of motion. I've started stacking all manner of junk on top of it. So now I have three or four layers of junk teetering atop this Creature box. So it is a $250 pedestal on which to stack my dimestore junk. I kind of like the absurdity of that.
JUNKTASTIC!! Thanks for sharing, Ray!
Ray, do you, or anyone else here, have the "Parts of Body" box of rubber body parts? I saw them on Ebay awhile back and I thought I'd saved the pics, but I can't find them. The box was full of eyes, ears, fingers, etc.. and the art on the box was the greatest thing ever. It was a bunch of surgeons operating on someone but they were basically just cutting him him up! There were bloody limbs on the table and stuff. It was hilarious. I really should have bought it.
I have a box that goes with those AHI sparkers done in exactly the same style. The mystery deepens...Mine don't say AHI either, but they are originals. Note Godzilla's feet. And the box has Creech on it! Yay! see below:

I do have the "Parts of Body" box. It will turn up eventually in this thread.
Very interesting, Matt. I've seen display boxes filled with the later versions of this windups. Did yours come filled with toys? Is it a mix of originals and reissues? I see you have a Godzilla with toes and a Kong without toes. Did they both come out of that box? I've personally examined "fresh from the case" boxes of those toys and they were all toeless. The only ones I've seen with toes were the AHI versions.
The pic is one I took. The King Kong was an old one I had. A Creature with Toes and a Godzilla with toes were the only ones in the box when I bought it. I was going to sell King Kong, Godzilla and the box on Ebay. But then I thought better of it. Kept the Creature of course.
The guy I bought them from said they were all his from when he was kid. He didn't elaborate any further than that. I don't know if he acquired all the items at the same time. Even if he insisted he did, memory is notoriously imprecise.
What I find interesting, and what intrigues me most is
your Godzilla appears to have the proper original toes or is that just the photo. Since these package designs are clearly the exact same era, it makes me wonder if indeed the toed versions did come out of this box.
I DO NOT, however, feel this is an AHI issuing of these things. I think they must have come out after the original AHI wave, as the box art doesn't resemble anything AHI-ian from any of its major 70s periods. My guess is that these are from the same era as when the Ben Cooper Jigglers got re-released by another company and reissued in a display box with art superficially similar in style to this.

My bagged Godzilla does have toes. I've also got these sparkers with toes:

I agree that the bagged Godzilla and your box, Matt, are probably not AHI issues. But I'm not sure that I would say the artwork does not resemble AHI. I'm going to look at an AHI catalog and see if I can find an image of the carded Godzilla sparker.
Here's mine. AHI never released a Godzilla as they never bought the license. I'd be very surprised if the bagged one you bought (which is super cool, btw) has an AHI copyright on the foot. The Creature pictured in your latest post shouldn't either, based on everything we've seen.
Dang, that's awesome. Thanks for posting that. I don't remember the last time I saw one of those on a card. I'll check my Creature to see if it has any AHI info on it.
OK, I checked all three of the toys in that picture. The carded Kong does have Azrak-Hamway copyright info on the bottom of his foot. The loose "Godzilla" and Creature do not. All they say is "Hong Kong." But they both have toes on their feet and they have the same red windup key as the carded Kong. Matt's loose Kong has no toes and a different key. I've seen other ones with metallic keys.
How did you know that the Creature would not have AHI info? What was the giveaway?
Somewhere buried in a toy box, I believe I still have my windup AHI Creature from childhood. It came off a card, so it is definitely AHI. But I'm not sure where it is. It would take a well-funded expedition to find it.
Resurrecting Ray's junk thread...here's some junk I got recently. Several display cards from vending machines and other nifty junk:

Thank you for the pick, now I know. I have Frankenstein and The Wolfman. But, their loose, and I paid 12.00 for both of them. I would like to find 'em tagged or carded. I'm happy either way.

Way under my radar. No "AHI" in the title. Sheesh. I would have bid for sure. Probably would have lost, though.
I've picked some toys in the Vending Machine (http://www.vending.com) which is good price. Yes, we know that the display box with art superficially similar in style in the vending machine. The more junk is not probably looking for, but it takes away to select various toys.

Below, on the right you see bagged Ugly Stickers jigglers. One of these days I'll do a thread just on these critters. I have two counter display boxes full of them, plus these bagged ones.

All AHI stuff is expensive, so those prices may not be out of line.

To my knowledge they cannot. The plastic body is glued together around the mechanism.
Also, there are non AHI manufactured versions of all three of these
with cut toes on the feet. If it was manufactured by AHI, it will say so on the foot. All others are not. The AHI Creature is the only version of the Creature with green plastic feet. I don't know of a tell on Kong and Rex.

You don't happen to have a spare one of those, do ya? ;) Thirty-five years later and I'm still on the hunt.
There have been two carded Creature sparking walkers that have come up for sale in the last 5-10 years (that I know of). In the case of the first one, the owner was trying to sell it to me directly. But he would only show me a tiny little jpg image. I couldn't make out any detail. I thought he might have scanned it off a catalog. I asked for a bigger image. This communication went on a long time. Finally, he sent me a bigger image. Then he told me he dropped it on his driveway and the bubble came off. ????? He really did have it, and I think he eventually sold it to someone else. But after the driveway story, I wasn't going to take a chance.
The other one was on ebay, I think. I probably bid on it. I don't remember. I know I didn't get it. Maybe that's the one Joe has now.

So my many questions. If they have toes, does not necessarily mean they are AHI?
can they be AHI if they have toes but only say made in Hong Kong.

there is a busted creature hong kong on foot with toes on ebay, buy it now 20.00 ship 10.00.

also a shabby looking Rex with the AHI but 45.00 and she won't say if it sparks.

Solid green plastic feet. The plastic itself is green, not simply painted. I have seen yellow feet with green paint flecks or spray on them, but they are easily visually distinguishable from the type monsterjoe posted.
The seller is, in my estimation, mistaken.

The "toes" are created by machined cuts into the plastic foot. They were not cast that way, to my understanding.

I will have 3 knock offs by this weekend, one of each monster so that should hold me until I can find the real AHI deal!!
If I had known, I could have sent you a no toes Kong and Godzi for free!
So I know for a fact that the Kong and the Godzilla says Ahi on the bottom of the foot..... Does the Creature walker also?

AHI did produce a Creature Little Walker (that's a photo of it from monsterjoe) and the ones they produced have the AHI info on the bottom of the foot. Those feet are cast in green plastic and, tmk, are the only release with green plastic feet, and the only release from AHI.

OH DUDE! you beat me to the punch!! You got a red Creech walker right next to your other Creech Walker! which I can't see his solid green AHI feet.
anyways I drew this on my co-workers board.... going to draw the red creech up there this afternoon.
I hope you like this Godzilla Spark drawing.

ZOINKS! No not the green creature, THE RED CREATURE with the silver knob standing right next to his green ahi-knock off bro!
okay to be fair, the red creature you have is mostly tan but has red highlights on his back armature.
silver knob on the side. My creature coming is also tannish, but with red head and back etc...

I'm so damned color blind I always thought this thing was shades of green! I asked someone who
isn't colorblind and it turns out the body is yellow, like a dark mustard, with red, or dark orange down the spine and down the sides and the feet are brown! The silver knob looks like it was painted.
COLOR BLIND FOR REALZ? then you wont be able to distinguish my RED creech drawing that I just finished.
this is done on a dry eraser board with dry eraser markers which are crazy to work with, because they become dirty after touching other colors and if you aren't careful going over a color, it tends to erase!!! anyways here is the red creech art as promised.

The problem was the necessity of feeding dozens or even hundreds of pennies into the gumball machine in front of Ken's Variety on Wharncliffe Road in London to get the little silver ball that could then be exchanged for the skeleton hands.

I just left you a private message. sorry I'm about 15 years too late.

Quote from: Mike Scott on May 19, 2024, 03:11:57 PMWas there anything else worth saving? Any Franky or horror imagery or text on the rest of it?
I saved the Frankenstein because A) it was the only monster, and B) it was drawn better than the other lenses. If i remember correctly, the other lenses were halloween-type images (bats, or spiders). And the packaging was probably generic so I didn't save that either.

Wow! That "Funlight" is very interesting to me. I have a pretty darn good memory, and back in 1970 I got for Christmas a gift I really liked called (as I remember it) a Ghost Projector. Now for years I've searched the internet for info for it and came up blank - there apparently was one made when the Ghostbusters cartoon series came out, but that's not the one I had. Seeing the photo above of the disc with the monster faces on it is what I had in that Ghost Projector. BUT it had other discs, including a color wheel, another one of other monster and ghost faces, plus one that you could slide open to put things in it (probably bugs and stuff).
So, now with the Funlight" name, I did another google search, and found a photo of that toy as well. The Ghost Projector I had looks very similar to the Funlight, but not exactly. So my thought is that there was likely a Ghost Projector toy made in 1970 by Mattel similar to the funlight.
My search goes on.

No, I saw that Ghost Gun before. that's not what I had. I clearly remember it being called a Ghost Projector. It looks very similar to the Funlight, but had different discs that you could put in to project monster faces and ghost images. In seeing the disc with the skull and other monster faces on it I remember having that disc, but another disc, with other monstrous and ghostly faces was my favorite disc, and I used to project that one a lot. I used to use that disc and the color wheel (I liked the images in green) and would project the image on the walls in the basement of the house I grew up in. Fun times.

Maybe it was the Funlight that you had because it came with other discs including one you could put things inside and one that had colored liquid inside so it would move around as you projected it on the wall. And you could combine the discs so you could combine the moving colors with the monster faces.
