I would kill for that Imagineering Vampire Blood in the white container!  That was the only product I had of them.  It would look awesome in Monster Cafe Saltillo.

and is AHI short for something?

Yup, it's an initialism of Azrak Hamway International.

Does anybody know if the flint can be changed out easily on the vintage sparkers?

To my knowledge they cannot. The plastic body is glued together around the mechanism.

Also, there are non AHI manufactured versions of all three of these with cut toes on the feet. If it was manufactured by AHI, it will say so on the foot. All others are not. The AHI Creature is the only version of the Creature with green plastic feet. I don't know of a tell on Kong and Rex.

Ahi Creature Sparker

You don't happen to have a spare one of those, do ya?  ;) Thirty-five years later and I'm still on the hunt.

There have been two carded Creature sparking walkers that have come up for sale in the last 5-10 years (that I know of). In the case of the first one, the owner was trying to sell it to me directly. But he would only show me a tiny little jpg image. I couldn't make out any detail. I thought he might have scanned it off a catalog. I asked for a bigger image. This communication went on a long time. Finally, he sent me a bigger image. Then he told me he dropped it on his driveway and the bubble came off. ????? He really did have it, and I think he eventually sold it to someone else. But after the driveway story, I wasn't going to take a chance.

The other one was on ebay, I think. I probably bid on it. I don't remember. I know I didn't get it. Maybe that's the one Joe has now.

I remember that one quite well. You passed me the photo and his story after passing on the toy, but I could never get a hold of him.

I also was not the high bidder on the one on ebay.  >:(

So my many questions.    If they have toes, does not necessarily mean they are AHI?

can they be AHI if they have toes but only say made in Hong Kong.

are the AHI toe guys worth anything if they don't work?

there is a busted creature hong kong on foot with toes on ebay, buy it now 20.00 ship 10.00.
the pic shows the inside is rusted......bad.
also a shabby looking Rex with the AHI but 45.00 and she won't say if it sparks.

plus I saw a nicer one on the completed go for 25.00, working and sparking.
I guess I need to have patience but in the mean time, if you can answer these questions I have
that would be great.

like solid green feet?   or the spray of green with yellow showing thru?   i just saw another AHI creech on etsywebsite but bottom of foot only says made in hong kong yet seller claims it is AHI.

sold by the way so I can't ask her any questions.  it also had green on its feet but not solid green.

I've never seen a "Hong Kong" one with toes. Don't know what Shannon meant by "cut toes"?

Let me know if you find one of those.

are the AHI toe guys worth anything if they don't work?

Sure, but less, just like anything else.

Correct.

No.

Eye of the beholder.

Happy to, with the typical caveats that this is to my knowledge.  Patience and diligence are typically the keys to a lower price.

Solid green plastic feet. The plastic itself is green, not simply painted. I have seen yellow feet with green paint flecks or spray on them, but they are easily visually distinguishable from the type monsterjoe posted.

The seller is, in my estimation, mistaken.

The "toes" are created by machined cuts into the plastic foot. They were not cast that way, to my understanding.

Thank you DarkMonkeyGod.    I thank you for all your knowledge and the fact you chose to reply to my questions.

I will have 3  knock offs by this weekend, one of each monster so that should hold me  until I can find the real  AHI deal!!

I don't really need carded, I prefer to play with the toy and hold it.   I DO  SEE the draw of owning a carded one, pretty darn neat but I would like a loose one as well.   (if I am gonna dream, dream big).

So pics tomorrow after work of the two arriving in tomorrow's mail.   Not AHI's, not even toed but coming to a well appreciated home and going on THE RACK.   (toy display in bedroom).

I put a wanted ad on the wanted ad page... so far no takers.
