I'm up for the DVD- this looks cool. It may be a "plain brown wrapper" special from the post office.
There were a ton of "exploitation", or "sexploitation", films made during the 1960's- 70's. Nudity & sex (softcore and hardcore) were relatively new to the big screeen and a lot of these pictures were just banned by the prudes back then or have just vanished into oblivion (for whatever reason...) while others still are slowly surfacing.
Some of the more obscure titles were out on VHS but I haven't really seen them listed on DVD yet, so we'll keep an eye peeled.
I had to miss this one because I was in London at my sister's house. Very disappointing.

Too bad we didn't have more monsterporn in the sleezy '70s. We could have had "Mad Monster Orgy" where Francesca found a bunch of new monsters to use her "mechanical parts" on. Or, "Whorehouse Of Frankenstein" where Rosalba Neri's character from Lady Frankenstein was resurrected as a patchwork monster ala Frankenhooker and became a madame as well as a mad scientist in some creepy lustfilled castle. Or, "Werepack In Heat" where a travelling orgy of lycanthropes "send their victims to heaven before they send them to hell!" starring Candy Samples, Uschi Digard, Kitten Natividad, and a host of other top heavy honeys heavily haired. The mind boggles (and hits the gutter) at what we missed.....*sigh* :D

Paul Naschy did R rated monster flicks but not porn. Franco did reeeeeally low budget porn later (like Lust For Frankenstein), but I'm not really sure he crossed that line in the '70s. I think later he did some of that stuff so Lina Romay could get laid, and for cigarette money, of course. Too bad he never spent that money with a dentist. I'm kidding of course. I'm a Franco and Romay fan. :)

But I laughed like a hyena when I read the cast credits list- there's Countess Sexcula, Dr. Fallatingstein, female sex robot AND Stagecoach driver! NOW, I must buy a copy! I LOVE stagecoaches!
Looks like I'll be reviewing this for The Phantom of the Movie's VideoScope (http://www.videoscopemag.com) #87 (Summer 2013).
At least you'll have a valid reason to watch it! :) I just want to see how the characters...ahem- interact. And if there's a plot!

I received my Sexcula DVD today. I will pass on reviewing it since Count Zirock has that covered. I will say that if you like monsters (and you probably do if you are reading this), and don't mind old style porn, then this is a fun oddity to add to your movie collection. I regret that Impulse couldn't throw some extras on there besides just the trailer. This DVD release is begging for the Something Weird treatment with a few similarly themed trailers/short films from the sleazoid '70s. And, if they couldn't dig anyone up from the original production to do an interview or commentary, they could have found someone who writes about similar movies to do a little research and bend our ears with some commentary. They coulda gotten Count Zirock fer cryin' out loud! Then he could represent for the UMA! 8)
Ha! Me doing a movie commentary track would be like asking Lenny Bruce to do a commentary for a Disney film. While my writing may not reflect it, my conversations are usually so laden with obscenities, I've had Somalian pirates ask me to tone it down! So far, it hasn't been a worry, though. Someday, maybe....

Brace yourself for tedium when it gets to that wedding-chapel-porn-movie-shoot part....nary a monster to be found for a seeming eternity of average to unattractive hairy people bumping uglies. And, I'm including faces in the whole ugly bumping thing. The best parts are the groovy gorilla, the wretched hunchback staggering around trying to pull his trousers up, and that Fellatingstein dame. The girl who played Sexcula, Debbie Collins, had acne from hell. Aside from her skin issues I guess she did resemble Marilyn Chambers a bit, as eted on the DVD box.
While fun to have in the collection, this flick is no Flesh Gordon, brother.

Everyone has their own opinion. Most people I've spoken with really enjoyed Flesh Gordon. BTW, the world's a small place these days.....there may be a crapload of goulash in Mexico for all we know. Anyway, here on UMA we call that GHOULASH, mister! :laugh:

I've completed and submitted my other reviews ("MST3K Vol. XXVI," "Gorgo," and "The Last Shark"). Now, I can turn my attention to "Sexcula" and "Mistress of the Apes"!
I have watched it. Very bizarre, and extremely tame by mid-'70s porn standards. I'm still trying to figure out my approach to the review for VideoScope...
