"They come from the bowels of hell; a transformed race of walking dead. Zombies, guided by a master plan for complete domination of the Earth."

Countdown, 1967 - In a desperate attempt to beat the Russians to the moon, a single American astronaut is sent in a modified Gemini capsule.  He will be unable to return.  To survive, he must find the shelter and supplies that were sent on ahead of him and await a second manned mission to bring him back.  Once on the surface, he encounters complications.

Stars Robert Duvall, James Caan and Charles Aidman.  Directed by Robert Altman.

Opened in February in the U.S.  Premiered 6 months earlier in the UK - 2 years before Armstrong walked on the moon.

Curiously, not as tense as one might expect.  Still, interesting for its time.  Unlike so many pre-lunar landing films, not entirely inaccurate in its portrayal of space travel.

Maybe it is because I remember the time so well, but I like the film.

The Demon (1979)  4/10

Gothic (1986)  5/10

Dracula: Prince Of Darkness (1966)  8/10

Two snoozers and a classic.

Gothic, by Ken Russell, has it's fans, but I'm not one of them. It's passable, but struck me as overly silly and frenzied in it's attempt to convey the creative madness of Mary Shelley and company. I defer back to James Whale and Elsa Lanchester on that storm filled night of "gods and monsters".

     -  NOT A HORROR  -

Dark comedy in the sprit of "Favor" and "A Simple Plan" where nothing goes right.

I suspect Mord and Mike would like this one.  I do.

Sounds great. I assume the nudity level is appropriate...nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Well, that's two strikes (no nudity AND David Schwimmer). I trust your taste, though.

I wondered about David Schwimmer, too.  But he was not allowed to make this too silly.

As far as trusting my taste...  maybe that's something you shouldn't express in an open forum.  People might start doubting yours.
