I remember these cups quite well, paricularly the Marvel and DC versions, which fascinated me to no end...

Of the monsters, my favorite was a "swamp monster" of sorts ( a take-off of The Gill-Man, no doubt)...anyone remember that one? And if anyone has a photo of it, please post!

For your viewing Pleasure.  ;D

Hey GZilla...

Sorry it's taken m e so long to respond.  That 'zombie' is a figure from the toy line of the Steven Sommers MUMMY movie.
It's a mummy with a (strangely enough) pincher or grabber thingy poked in it's head.

Best of all...you can pull up his head all the way...exposing a long spine and watch his head slowly decend...mandible chattering all the way.
It's strange and I just couldn't help but get SOMETHING to represent the new Mummy films in my collection.
I even have one of each of the new monsters from Van Helsing.  They hang in their protective cases...dusty and forlorn.  A testiment to things that are better left alone.
Like messing with designs of classic monsters.

LOL

Were The Mummy toys hard to find at the time?  I knew they made them, but I don't remember ever seeing them in stores.

one of my favorites in the Monster collection  ;D

Now that's what I like to see. Anyone know how many Marvel or DC monsters were on these cups back in the 70's? I seem to recall having a few of them. Sadly I actually reused them way too many times and the images pretty much faded out.

Thanks for the info, Bogey!

Yea,thanks man. That's one hell of a list. For whatever reason I kept getting the same 6 or 7 cups one summer.

Those are amazing! Especially the werewolf. I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to drink out of them though. I'd be afraid something would happen to them.

I tried once.  Had 30 or so....really looked nice on the shelves., especially the Marvel ones.  But like many collections I sold them along with my comic collection and started a new one....monsters. ;D

It can be done, I believe.  The problem I ran into was that I had to start buying a lot of 5-6 to get one or two I needed.  Then there was the condition problem.  They have something called a ring line that is caused by just keeping them stacked over years.  If you could look past this, then you may put together a decent set.  There were a number of these that I never saw in the two years or so I collected, but it would be a collection that you would have to do a search every few days.  However, even if you do not complete a set, a partial set is pretty stinking cool.

Condition is a factor. The Dracula cup I purchased(posted picture above)I was fortunate, no cracks, lines, fading or yellow/aging. The previous owner took really nice of the cup, and so am I. I couldn't believe when I first received the Dracula cup, what splendid/amazing condition.  Like the 7-11 cup was never used, or maybe the cup went through a time-warp? Lol!!!! Oops!!!! Did just start another thread?  "Time-warps and vintage toys"
