Mike, I'm the same way with my kids.  We rode our bikes all over town, late at night and all that.  I would not let my kids do half the stuff I did.  I am not sure if there are more creeps out there, or if we just get more exposure to the horrible news stories that sell the news?  Either way, I'm way over-protective of my kids.

I think it's a product of the times we live in and the media just bombarding us with news of abductions, slayings, terrorism etc.
Not that these things have not increased since we were children...they have!  School shootings were unheard of, and we could ride our bikes (without a helmet) for hours in the night.  (or two blocks away to the 7-11 to get a slurpee)

Trick or Treating was a kid only function- thank you very much- as we ran the streets late into the night, like wild dogs...with no parents in the car safely behind us.  Just us and the night.

Things are different now.  Sadly, you can never go back.

These are the type of things that happen when you listen to a few dissatified people and the Goverment takes prayer out of schools and makes it a more or less crime to say Merry Christmas for fear of offending someone! When I was a kid if you came here from somewhere else you were the one that had to adjust not us! What the Hell happened????????? ???

Mister Horror. I feel the same way you do in many ways, BUT times have changed in the way we need to recognize everyone's liberty. The big problem that I have is when it comes at the expense of my own thoughts and beliefs. Somehow it's become politically incorrect to even wish someone a Merry CHRIST-mas. That steams me to no end. Take your Happy Holidays and stick it where the sun doesn't shine!

BTW, we are dancing dangerously on the edge of forum policies regarding politics and religion. And I'm not helping matters here either. Let's steer this thread back on topic before the army police come and take us away.

Same thing happened here.

Toy Ranch

I loved going to 7-11 and getting a slurpee and a monster or super hero cup.  I remember when the monster cups first came to 7-11 and that was like nirvana.  Thanks for the pics!

CreepysFan

I used to love collecting these, thanks for these pictures and memories.

Yes..thanks for posting the pictures of the cups. Fond 7-11 summer memories.....I didn't ride a bike there, but enjoyed driving my 10 year old cousin there every few days to get Slurpee's. He collected the baseball medallions that were hidden in the outside bottom of the cup. Finally found our holy grail...Darryl Strawberry!

Hey GZilla...

Sorry it's taken m e so long to respond.  That 'zombie' is a figure from the toy line of the Steven Sommers MUMMY movie.
It's a mummy with a (strangely enough) pincher or grabber thingy poked in it's head.

Best of all...you can pull up his head all the way...exposing a long spine and watch his head slowly decend...mandible chattering all the way.
It's strange and I just couldn't help but get SOMETHING to represent the new Mummy films in my collection.
I even have one of each of the new monsters from Van Helsing.  They hang in their protective cases...dusty and forlorn.  A testiment to things that are better left alone.
Like messing with designs of classic monsters.

Creature Features

I remember these cups quite well, paricularly the Marvel and DC versions, which fascinated me to no end...

Of the monsters, my favorite was a "swamp monster" of sorts ( a take-off of The Gill-Man, no doubt)...anyone remember that one? And if anyone has a photo of it, please post!
