I love Fangoria, but I've recently become a fan of Famous Monsters.   As much as I love reading about up and coming horror films, sometimes it's nice to reminise about the classics.

I see a lot of people like Horror Hound.  Just out of curiousity, what makes Horror Hound such a great read (vs. all the other ones on the market)?

To me, Horror Hound, Fangoria, Rue Morgue, and Diabolique are all interchangeable.  Famous Monster ran a Twilight article....there out....Scary Monsters has been a very cool mag.  At monster Bash I picked up Monster Bash Magazine which is a great mag and much along the lines of Scary Monsters mag but with glossy pages.
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity...

They are fairly new and I only have a few issues, but Freaky Monsters is a great magazine dedicated to the classic monster movies.

Horrorhound is still on my top 5 list. Along with Fango
and Monster Memories.

One of the features in "Horror Hound" that I like, is a feature where they go to where different horror movies were filmed.

I've flipped through a couple issues of Horror Hound since reading this thread.  I like the direction they're going in, but I think the writing in Fangoria and FM is much stronger.

I would choose, Famous Monsters of Filmland, although I also really like the older Fangoria magazines from the '80s

I agree. A truly shameful omission.

:o

I think I'll have to get myself a subscription.

:-\

BTW, which monster magazine would have the best articles on monster related ephemera such as toys?

???

Hepcat.  I would recommend both HorrorHound and Scary Monsters.

I chose Famous Monsters.  My first one was issue 101.  I had two of The Monster Times, I don't think that The Monster Times made it to my area all the time where I grew up, Griffith, Indiana.  After moving to Palmdale, California, I lost track of Famous Monsters until issue #145.  If I remember correctly, my picture was published in issue 159.
