Well I'm casting my vote for the original:

Famous Monsters of Filmland got my vote.

I am gonna say Horror Hound at #1..... Right behind it at a close #2 is Rue Mourge. Both excellent magazines.

I guess "Monster Times" and "Scary Monsters" are lumped into the "Other" category in this poll.

Those two are right up there with "Famous Monsters of Filmland" in my own rankings.

While not strictly horror, for contemporary reading I'll go with The Phantom of the Movies' VideoScope. For classic back issues, nothing beats Forry's FMoF.

FANGORIA, still to this day, will always rule the magazine stands.
Not for those of us who remember back when Fango didn't exist.
Castle of Frankenstein was a great mag, but no place near me carried it on a regular basis. I was also a Monster Times fan. Joe Kane, aka The Phantom of the Movies, was the longest-serving (and last) editor of TMT. At one time, Fangoria was supposed to release a DVD-ROM of all TMT back issues. Then the economy tanked, and the project got cancelled.

I haven't bought anything but a few Filmfax since the late 70s.

I want to like Scary Monsters but I have a hard time reading it -the layout seems sort of chaotic, and the print is small.

I love Little shoppe of horrors because the Klem keeps it as a family atmosphere and the articles are always so well informed. As for the others Castle of Frankenstein and Monsters from the vault get my vote.

I believe, in my humble opinion, that Scary Monsters Magazine is the best horror related magazine out.  Famous Monsters of Filmland used to be great when Forrey was in charge.  Now it seems more of like a "trendy horror" mag.  Scary Monsters Magazine hands down---Thank you Dennis D.!

As far as current mags go it would be Scary Monsters (serious oversight not listing that on the poll). For mags from the past I really can't pick just one. I love all of the Warren mags, Castle Of Frankenstein, Monster Times, Skywald Horror-Mood, even Charlton and Eerie Pubs offerings. They all fit together to form a library greater than the sum of it's parts.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

If we are talking favorite (as in it can be cancelled, etc.) then Vintage Era Famous Monsters wins claws down. if newer magazines is what we are talking....my original answer still applies:
UNDYING MONSTERS

Sin by Omission. 8)

As for the new Famous Monsters---not the least bit interested. Undying monsters feels more like an old FM than the new issues of FM.

Then (and I am loathe to say it), there is Ferry's magazine. Freaky Monsters.  Ferry is a complete (fill in your expletive of choice here), but his magazine is flying off the shelves, and is quite popular on the secondary market as well. My dad buys  it....so I get to flip thru it. I am sure someone out there has to be buying it. Even though no one will admit it because of what he did to FJA.

UNDYING MONSTERS  gets my vote.
