I have a big DVD collection and i am wondering if they will quit making DVD's like they did with VHS. This would suck big time. If they do quit making DVD's i will not convert. What are your thoughts on this? Do you know any information that they will do away with DVD's.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

A friend of mine recently bought Logan's Run on Blu-ray, and sincerely they did a great work with it. I have a lot of DVDs and really I don't wanna change them for the Blu-Ray editions at this time, due the cost it will be for me. Also I read that are investing about the capacity of the DVDs and its possible that in a near future it will allow to store 100 times Blue-Ray information on a Single DVD Disc...

So let me get this straight, they are going to make DVD's better than Blu-ray and still make DVD's in the future. AWESOME!!

As long as dvds are around I'm not switching over!  If they start releasing Blu-ray only then I may switch but not redo my whole collection as Blu-ray just the movies I don't already have.  Blu-ray players will play dvds anyways.

The new tech sounds promising but depending on who's developing it a higher power could squash it (or buy it) out.  Not to mention it may not be developed for 10 or 20 years, giving Blu-ray plenty of time to make dvd extinct.

I sure hope Blu-Ray won't replace DVD.  I have lots of DVD's and I sure wouldn't want to replace them either.  As long as DVD players are available then it shouldn't be a problem.  I don't think DVD's go bad like tapes can.

Blu-Ray players play DVDs so there's no worry there.

I have a Blu-Ray player and an HD TV and there IS a difference in the quality but I'm not replacing the DVDs I already own. I buy blu-rays for movies I don't already have or new releases. I think I've only bought one I already owned on DVD - The Last Starfighter. I don't regret it either. LOL
