The Moon Monster has landed. One small step for Moon Monster, one giant leap for Monster Kids. Yes, I received an original Moon Monster in today's mail. This all courtesy of a very kind UMA member who shall remain anonymous unless he decides to come forward. This member was kind enough to lend it to me for the purpose of creating reproductions. Now that I have received it, I will begin exploring my options at various printing sources.

The Moon Monster consists of two halves much like the Honor House Frankenstein poster. The idea was to tape the 2 halves together to make a 6' 3" Moon Monster. It is in black and white. This particular Moon Monster does have some wear along the edges where the fold lines are. This is very common considering the age of the paper and the folding and unfolding that has taken place since it's birth. My first step in the repro process will be to professionally scan the 2 halves and save them as a file. Once the file has been created, I will then begin the restoration of the paper flaws. Once that's done, the file will then be ready for the print shop.

Here is what the Moon Monster looks like here at Castle Famous.

This is the first half (or top half). Each half measure 27 1/4" x 37 1/4".

Half number 2.

Here is the Moon Monster halves placed together.

I promise to keep you updated as my project unfolds (no pun intended). I will make these posters available to the UMA once the cost is figured out. But first, there's work to be done just cleaning up the source material before any printing can take place.

Slightly better than what I imagined it would look like.

Isn't that cool?

Cheap, sure - but at that age, I'd a loved it!

It actually looks pretty cool.

I wonder how many of these have survived over the years? Not too many I imagine. Unless you live in Robert Taylor's house, things like this get tossed out due to size and space constraints.

Heck, I'd just keep it next to the W-fest Coelacanth.  Probably the smallest house in the UMA, but there's always room for a 7 ft nuclear sub!

Oh, man!  You guys are killing me with resurfacing, repressed memories!
I sent for the Monster Ghost.  Waited about 3 lifetimes for delivery, and had the same reaction Ralphie did in "A Christmas Story" when his code ring told him to drink more Ovaltine!  Then I cut the "head hole" too big in the white plastic, and the balloon went right through!  And the popping skeleton hands didn't even move! They were a pocket protector!  Ughh!
But, like someone said earlier, "No lesson learned".

Initially I had the same reaction to the Moon Monster when it arrived.  I was NOT expecting posters! (I'm still lousy at reading and interpreting product description!)
However, once I got it hung on my bedroom door, I loved it!

I thought the ghost sucked, too. The Bat, the moon monster etc. ...

You should have ordered a Jivaro Jungle Blow Gun out of Fur-Fish-n'Game magazine,  It was the mail order item that just kept on giving...!  ;D
