That is not the original Moon Monster. The Moon monster was sold out of union city N.J. and produced in Brooklyn N.Y. ....I am trying to see where I have seen this poster the bottom part of the body. The head is copied from the Moon monster but the bottom is from another poster. The envelope is from Hollywood with a 1959 stamp. this could be any envelope. Again the poster is a fake it's not the Moon monster. The first ad for the monster was in 1964 or 1965.......I AM TRYING TO THINK... WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS?... WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR HULK TO THINK?

ALSO THE ORIGINAL MOON MONSTER HAS DIFFERENT FOLDS. THIS ONE LOOKS LIKE IT CAME IN A MAGAZINE AND FOLDED OUT. THE ORIGINAL MOON MONSTER CAME IN A 9 X 12 YELLOW ENVELOPE.

I was wondering why everyone managed to find that and outbid me :( .......................

Anyone ever order one of these, or know the story on them?

From what I understand, they were genuine goverment surplus, just as the ad states. I believe there were a couple of sci fi movies of the era that used this type of suit as costumes in the film. I've heard they were also sold at gov't surplus stores in the 60s.

I think the guy wanted $20,000, not $10,000.  He never sold it.  He was trying to sell half-baked reproductions of Captain Company-type items, then wondering why nobody was buying.

Personally, I enjoy contacting them through the "Ask the seller a question" link and mocking them mercilessly. I need a hobby.

My son won the moon monster poster for me as a surprise. So here is my story, when I asked the original owner or so she said she was about this poster....I got this email from her..............................."Greetings and congrats on your winning bid. This was a hard one to sell. My brother ordered it when we were kids out of the EERIE TALES #1 issue 1959 HORROR MAGAZINE that was also on ebay when the Poster was on. The mag had the cut out of the back cover were he ordered it. When it arrived our parents took it away from him as they said it would give him nightmares. The magazine and the poster was together in the original mailing envelope that is dated 1959. Years later we had come across it when cleaning out our parents house. He didn't want it anymore and said for me to take it since we were into the Universal Monsters. As you can see it was never hung up and was in the original envelope. It was shipped from Calif as you can see the post mark and some of the senders address. Hope this helps and once again thank you.".........I thanked her and asked her about the other items that came with the poster....I got this email......".No that was all that was with it. Thanks"........Again I asked if she knew what happen to the mask and the pictures that were advertised with the poster and I got this final email...."Nothing else came with it."..........THAT IS IT NO RESPONSE....The Moon monster was sold from N.J. NOT HOLLYWOOD...I don't have a copy of eerie no.1 to prove my point on the address but here is my opinion on this poster. The poster I believe is from 1959 it has the face of the moon monster but not the body. The one on the ad has his right hand positioned the same way as the poster which everyone knows is the moon monster. I think that who ever created the famous moon monster ad never used this poster to send to anybody....I think this poster was from some other item or ad and this seller is trying to pass it of as the moon monster...The poster will be up for sale again on ebay unless I am wrong about what I have stated.....CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT on this subject.

"Bait and Switch" is a form of fraud in which the party putting forth the fraud lures in customers by advertising a product or service at an unprofitably low price, then reveals to potential customers that the advertised good is not available but that a substitute is. ($20K doesn't sound "unprofitably low", to me.)

When people read this auction it explained to them that on a monthly basis I was going to sell original Honor house products. AND TO PUT IT SIMPLE IF THEY WANTED THE GHOST THEN THEY WOULD HAVE HAVE TO FORK OVER THE $20,000 OR I WOULD NOT SELL IT!...... The fact that I advertised something for this price and then have listings on my auction for other stuff is done all the time, in fact ebay promotes this by telling you to cross switch your products before you sell therefore selling more stuff.....WHY WOULD ANYBODY COMPARE THIS TO FRAUD OR BAIT AND SWITCH BEATS ME...... THE GHOST WENT UP FOR SALE IT'S MY DECISION TO SELL THIS ITEM AT WHATEVER PRICE I WANT....AND ITS UP TO THE BUYER IF HE OR SHE WANTS TO PAY FOR IT OR NOT.........IS THIS NOT WHAT AMERICA IS ALL ABOUT???
