Wonderful "Georgia Brown" in the 1943 fantasy/musical CABIN IN THE SKY with Ethel Waters and Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, and "Glinda the Good" in the '78 film version of THE WIZ--she was savvy and intelligent in interviews, and she was magic on stage and in films.

I always thought my great aunt looked like Lena Horne.

I just recently saw this film for the first time.  Although it has some very inappropriate racial material by today's standards, it also has some spectacular performances by these great black actors and singers.  I recommend catching it next time it runs on TCM.

"Cabin in the Sky" turns up pretty regularly at my local Big Lots in the $3.00 bin. Definitely worth buying!
