I was also fond of Axis and Allies (I was college age when I was first introduced to this one in the mid 1990's), The Game of Life. Trouble, Battle Ship, Stock Market, and Trivial Pursuit.

Quote from: Sly Wolf on September 14, 2012, 11:48:53 AMMy grandma and grandpa used to have big collection of old board games, but now it got water damaged and grandma just throw them away anyway. I can't remember names of them, my mind is almost blank when I tried to think about them. I'm sure one is mummy game, tip it, two hockey stick games, and something else that I'm trying to figure out.

I always wince when I hear stories like that.

I still love my board games!!
#1 Which Witch
#2 Pay Day
#3 Bugaloos
#4 Stratego
#5 H.R. Pufnstuf
and I also have to add Stay Alive, although not a game with a "board" still one of the best games of the 70s!!
I could have added another 10, awesome thread!

Great board games are still produced and sold these days. Look at how cool the latest edition of Mouse Trap looks:

It is actually really cool looking & probably made a little better than the one that I played with in the 70s. I don't like the box cover though, its too new looking lol. If they made a new version of Which Witch or Séance or Haunted House I would buy those up in a heartbeat!!

Thank You! Awesome to find that out. I've seen Ghost Castle games on eBay & didn't realize they are a copy of Which Witch... which is a copy of Haunted House I believe. I noticed that there are ones from the 90s up to 2012 or so, I wonder if the graphics are different. Looks like I have some shopping to do. Thanks again!

I have this new incarnation of Arkham Horror as well as many of the supplements. Also have the original incarnation from the '80s. Great game for Lovecraft fans.

A streamlined easier to play version of Arkham Horror is Eldritch Horror:

Here are three extremely comprehensive books on board games by super collector Desi Scarpone:

The purple one at the bottom is more commonly found with a green jacket and is merely the revised Edition of the top blue book. I have the top two books and they are indeed drool worthy.

Here are a couple of pictures from Scarpone's collection of over 6000 board games:

It's actually the Ideal board games that featured the best box art courtesy of Ralph Pereida. His artwork was a cut above that found on most other board games. Here are some examples:

I have an Ideal Man from U.N.C.L.E. board game in my own collection:

Oh wow! I had that King Kong game as a kid. I totally forgot about it, but I know I loved it back then.
