Part of the Burton backlash is due to the perception that he's sold out. That he now makes the type of bloviated, pretentious garbage ("Planet of the Apes," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Alice in Wonderland," "Dark Shadows") that his early career railed against. I'm not sure if it's so much hate as it is frustration and disappointment. He's just made some poor artistic choices recently.

I'm hoping "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" (which he produced), "Frankenweenie," and his animated Addams Family film are more akin to his earlier work. But, I gotta admit, I'm not holding out much hope for "Beetlejuice 2."

I don't hate the body of Tim Burton's work, but I have problems with some of his more recent films.
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"; the book and Wilder film was about a imaginative person looking for an heir to carry on his work.  Burton's movie was Michael Jackson in search of a playmate to share neverland Ranch with.
"Alice in Underland"(In which Burton tells us what the name of the place really was.  That means he was more informed about the actual name of the place than Lewis Carroll was.  Why not redo Lord of the Rings, using the characters of Lewis Carroll?
"Dark Shadows" where as a fan of the original series, he decides to make the Vampire Collins into a Pretentious buffoon.

I liked "Frankenweenie".  Nice expansion of his original live action short.
I didn't hate "Planet of the Apes".  In fact his ending was closer to the source material than Rod Serling's version.
I actually enjoyed "Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter".
I'm hoping that his stop action animated "Addams Family", can take away some of the trauma of having suffered through Saban's "Addams Family Reunion.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

I thought Abe the Vampire Hunter was great. I really enjoyed it, especially its correct and very historical "look".

I haven't seen it but safe to say if you don't like cheese....skip it!!  And certainly skip it for 50 to 100 bucks!!

I have seen most of it, and I guess I would say it's like a Domino's pizza...it looks better than it tastes. Still fun, though.

Watch?...once.
Own?...nope.

Watched mine, sold it off and got my money back. Was really looking forward to it, and was let down.  :-\ :'(

$10.99 + shipping at raredvds.biz isn't bad. Who knows when we'll see another legit release?

I might have to check that out. I love the idea of continuing making these kinds if films in this day and age. And not all of the classic Universal films were perfect either.

If you go to the Chaney website, and request it, Ron will autograph it for you! Or if attending Monsterpalooza, It they'll be there as well, and perhaps you can get a photo with them

It's no longer on the Chaney website, OG. I believe they've run out, and it appears to be OOP. Not even the Taurus Entertainment website comes up, anymore.

Edit: Taurus has been acquired by Blairwood Entertainment. You can write to them regarding "House of the Wolf Man" at:

It seems the only way to get this now, without paying outrageous "collector" prices on eBay and Amazon, is to order a DVD-R copy from Rare DVDs.

I have the official "House of the Wolf Man" DVD. I was very excited about it when I read about it and bought it as soon as it came out. I love what they're trying to do, but I don't think they really succeed. The first hour and twenty minutes feels like an eternity with all the mixed-to-bad acting, but there are a couple of watchable scenes, like the scene with the witch.

The problem is that the monsters don't show up until the last ten minutes. The Frankenstein Monster VS the Wolf Man fight scene is GREAT. It's like the fight scene we wish we'd seen in "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man," but it comes too late to save the movie. As a novelty, it's fun to have the DVD just for that scene alone, but re-watching the entire movie just isn't something I think I'll ever do.

There is one for $35 on ebay

How much was this when it came out? I bought one but forgot how much...The fight scene at the end was cool, but I remember it has it's flaws. It's cool to have anyhow simply to round out the "House Of" movies...

I believe it was originally $15-$20.
