I hope that it is all right to post this here.

The tradition of SCARLET STREET continues with

SCARLET: THE FILM MAGAZINE!

There has been a great deal of discussion on several boards both pro
& con about continuing SCARLET STREET after
Richard Valley's untimely passing.

We hope we have come up with the ideal solution, creating a NEW
magazine that will continue the tradition of SCARLET STREET while
leaving intact the legacy of
55 issue of SCARLET STREET that RICHARD edited.

SCARLET will begin fresh with issue number one.

We cannot hope to put out exactly the same
magazine Richard would have,
but we can hope to put out a publication of which
he would have approved.

I will be functioning as publisher,
Arlene Domkowski (Maleva on the boards) will be Associate Publisher,
Ken Hanke will be Editor-in-Chief
and Harry Long will be the Managing Editor.

With these longtime SCARLET STREET contributors in place editorially
(and many longtime SCARLET STREET writers contributing
articles) we feel that SCARLET: THE FILM MAGAZINE
will be a publication that will appeal to all of SCARLET
Street's readers.

We are planning on having the first issue, a Limited
Edition collector's issue , ready in time to debut at the next
Monster Bash in June.

We're still finalizing the contents, so we'll make the announcement
of articles, writers and artists represented in the first issue at
a later date.

Something SCARLET this way comes.

I am very glad that you posted this.  Just recently I looked in Barnes & Noble and in Borders for Scarlet Street, and of course I did not find it.  I actually wrote a book review and edited a few reviews for the magazine way back when, and I attended one or two parties at Richard Valley's house.  Very sorry to hear about his passing -- I knew that he had been ill, but I didn't know how serious it was.  He published a *wonderful* magazine for many years.  Scarlet Street's appearance was always one of quality, and Mr. Valley valued good writing.  I am sure that he will be missed by many.

Wishing you the best of luck with the new publication.  If you're looking for a writer (or possibly for an editor), drop me a line.  Thanks!

Vicki,  sorry i have not been on for awhile.  You can always send me an email at nitesho(*at*)aol.com  (this applies to anyone who has SCARLET:THE FILM MAGAZINE questions.

The mag is moving ahead, with a beautiful cover painting and wonderful original illustrations for the interior, with some well done articles and reviews inside.

SCARLET THE FILM MAGAZINE   is not associated with SCARLET STREET . That was a separate business and company. Plus SCARLET STREET was, for all intents and purposes the voice of RICAHRD VALLEY.  Every article and item that appeared in the magazine was filtered through his wonderful mind, and it reflected his voice.  We who knew and loved him miss his friendship.

SCARLET   is a magazine in a similar style with many of the old writers , but it will by the nature of the beast be a bit different, as it is filtering articles through the computers of HARRY LONG and KEN HANKE,with  some outside suggestions by ARLENE  and myself.

The first issue is still on track for June premiere at MONSTER BASH ,and I hope that those attending will stop by, buy a copy, and perhaps share some remembrances of Richard .

Also, stores such as HORRBLES in Illinois and DARK DELICACIES in California will also be carrying the magazine .
