Good question. If I had to guess I'd say it's symbolic of the fear that he has spread. Here's a couple of panels from it.

DCs answer to Tomb of Dracula?

Yeah sort of. I really like the I Vampire series from DC. They re-launched the title as part of the new 52 line a few years ago, but it is since canceled. I collected it, but it was nowhere as good as original. The vampire character Andrew Bennett appeared in some of the Justice League Dark issues too.

I have the Frankenstein and Creature Dell comics. I bought them a few years ago off evilBay in around FN for $10 each, give or take a $1. I've only ever seen them offered singly so I suspect a person would have to be very lucky to find all of them for sale in a group.

I never knew about the other titles. I never saw these when I was a kid or I would have been all over them. I bought every monster or dinosaur comic I could get my hands on.

So about a week ago I went to comic book yard sale. Everything had to go, so $1 a book. The guy knew he had some valuable stuff, but just wanted to unload everything. I found some good Ghost Rider, Doctor Strange and Darkhorse Godzilla stuff.

Can you freakin' believe it? I've been trying to hunt down this set for years. This is very difficult to find, unless you want to pay $170 on ebay. I snagged it for $3.

The very first letter column that DC published was back in 1946 in Real Fact Comics 3:



The third letter printed was by a fellow whose name would in due course become associated with monsterdom and all those things we UMAers hold dear to our hearts.
