I might just be looking in the wrong place, but I haven't seen photos, to my recollection, of the very small monster buttons that could be had from vending machines.  I remember these in the 70's...I forget if they cost ten or twenty-five cents, but they had classic Uni monsters, and I think they were simply mini versions of the larger buttons I've seen.  I never got one but I used to see these in machines everywhere.  Does anyone have some of these?

If you talking about the penny-sized yellow and red buttons, they're actually from the sixties. I distinctly remember getting them at a Florida tourist trap and in Pennsylvania Amish country like in 1966-68 or so, and I had seen them a couple of years earlier, probably at a department store. When I saw them as a kid, they were always sold with the classic red "FAMOUS MONSTERS" header card affixed to the glass of 1c gumball machines. Unfortunately, you has to buy fifty gumballs to get one button!

Hey, wow, there they are!

Yes, I figured a bunch of these were manufactured in the 60's and gradually they got sold away over the years.  I'm pretty sure I saw them in machines as late as 1975.

Back then you could get some odd things out of gumball machines.  Remember those miniature working cigarette lighters you could get?   They did not have lighter fluid in them, presumably you had to put that in there yourself, and hopefully tykes weren't thinking that far ahead.

The ones I have are different, might be unlicensed but they are photos of the monsters with their name in red.

Hi have my Creature one on the interior of the car. Not 10 minutes ago, while giving my wife a ride to work, she said "Hi Creetch".

Sounds like the Topps "Batty Buttons". Check the 1970s albums of the big 6 monsters to see if they're all there. Here's the Creature.

Even though the big buttons are from the '70s, I put all the Elwars in one photo in the "1960s" albums for the 6 top monsters.

Here are all eight of the Universal monster buttons from the 1973 Topps "Batty Buttons" release:

And here are front and back views of the little bag in which they were sold:

Sadly no gum was included.
