Not to be the guy holding the pin to the baloon, but The Blair Witch Project?? Ghostly??
Imo, the last 10 minutes of the movie was the best part, but Ghostly?, really?, explain please. ;D

Definitely ghostly Doc!

Yes, the witch was ghostly to me, the story was a ghost story in the woods. They were researching/searching for any signs of the Blair Witch ghost who haunted those woods.

I like this movie alot. It always reminds me of Halloween (setting, story, icons) and I remember being scared of an abandoned cabin I once saw in the woods as a little kid. Aside from the ghost story, it is a study in the breakdown of any group dynamics. A descent into horror and madness wrapped in a ghost story.

I could have done without so much screaming, but overall it's a good movie that I watch every Halloween Season.

Thats cool, well if you liked it that much, you might like "ST.FRANCISVILLE EXPERIMENT", it's kinda on the same lines, except takes place

at a plantation, but it's filmed like its "real".

And both were probably inspired by The Last Broadcast

They certainly were, the only exception being that BROADCAST focused on murders possibly linked to the Jersey Devil instead of ghosts.
DARK SHADOWS:

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Poltergeist was way too "theme-park-thrill-ride" for me.
I prefer the original treatment of the basic story, Little Girl Lost on the Twilight Zone.
Sometimes simplicity reigns.

Kind of like how the Texas Chainsaw Massacre family was a true story -- about one man, Ed Gein in Wisconsin. ::)

Yea. Another example is Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys. I like Terry's work, but the source material (Chris Marker's La Jetee) is a twenty minute film that delivers the goods with economy of form (and is a masterpiece IMO). It's like telling a joke and making it way too elaborate for the eventual punch line.
Come to think of it La Jetee is somewhat ghostly. At one point, the girl describes the visitor as "her ghost". That's a must see film BTW. I think it's available on Youtube, as well as a Criterion DVD.

That's the kind of movie runs on your favorite quality cable channel right after 27 episodes of Star Gate. lol.!

I used to have it on VHS. If it is available on DVD, I've yet to find it, & I've been on the lookout. I HIGHLY recommed "The Woman In Black". There has to be someone(s) here in the UMA who will concur. I watch horror/sci-fi/fantasy mostly out of fascination, but this little gem scared the crap out of me, in a well written, well crafted way.

Funny, I JUST heard about this film for the first time TODAY on the Horror Etc podcast, and they RAVED about it too. You got me intrigued now.

If/when you see it, I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I guess that's why I included it on my list. It was great fun, when I first saw it, but it's probably been 20 yrs since my last viewing.
