None of my G.I. Joes looked like that, they looked like this...............

Universal Steve

At least Universal sees that Sommers isn't that good. Van Helsing was another story by itself but I saw the trailer for G.I. Joe and I thought I was looking at Van Helsing. Like my wife said of  Van Helsing, it was nothing more than people jumping around and flying in the air. This is the same exact thing I saw on the G.I. Joe trailer. My son likes G.I. Joe and had all the 3 3/4 inch figures and I had the original 12" ones when I was a kid. We are fans but we are going to pass on this one.

I'll probally watch it, when it comes out on disc, I liked Van Helsing.
I like people who jump around and fly in the air like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Sommers being fired is just a rumor-

QuoteDespite checking with several of their sources and getting agreement all round, Latino Review decided they just wanted to be sure about this whole story which is fair enough. Speaking to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura about the story, the producer denied it completely:

Lorenzo: Its very unfair to Steve, its completely untrue he was never asked to leave or been fired or any of that. That's ridiculous. The movie tested very well.

Latino Review: So what really happened in the editing room?

Lorenzo: Nothing that doesn't happen on every other movie, which is that you constantly work and work and work and you make it better and better. We had a delay on visual effects so we waited a long time to finish the movie but that's the only thing. I don't really know why that would be interpreting it negatively but I guess it was.
So there we have it, there was nothing about this whole affair that added up properly. As I said in my opening sentence this is a very strange turn of events. Thankfully Lorenzo and La'Review have sorted this whole mess out, but it just goes to show how far some people will go to cause trouble!

It's also worth noting that the thread at the Don Murphy Message board has now been deleted - says it all really doesn't it?

I had the figures, read the comics, watched the cartoon... and I still can't wait to see this movie.

Until I read a story like this in a place like Variety, or the LA Times, I am skeptical.  Fan sites pick up on tidbits of gossip, or misinformation, and run with it.

Remember when the UK sci-fi site reported Forry dead back in November-- and other fan sites picked up the news and ran with it?  (Gave us all a fright, but Forry chuckled.)

Or there was the time when Trekker fandom set off after J.J. Abrams (with phasers set to kill) because a reporter from Variety wrote Winona Ryder was cast as "Spock's Vulcan mother," and Variety had to quickly issue an apology and recant, saying it was their error-- she was still human.

Since this story was posted on fan sites, Don Murphy has had the post removed from his web site, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has refuted the story in an interview, and Paramount Studios has issued an email saying the story is untrue-- and the fact that we don't hear this story in other more mainstream news sources makes it all seem like it was too flimsy to get much attention outside of fandom.

I'm not a big G.I. Joe fan, and don't know much about the franchise, but I thought the trailer looked interesting, and plan to give the movie a chance.

Just to give some of you who arent G.I.Joe fans an idea of where the fanbase is at right now I put webisode 2 up of "G.I.JOE RESOLUTE"....because it showcases the badness that is Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow! My 2 faves...they changed the story around a bit as to why they feud from the Marvel Comic..but its still pretty solid. Fans in my age group who grew up with the cartoon then matured into the comic are raving about this...many of us believe the franchise should stay here and continue with the great monthly comic...enjoy!

Snake eyes costume looks cool in the movie, but I am disappointed in StormShadow's costume.

This is what StormShadow is suppose to look like.

The movie Stormshadow just looks like some dude about to repaint my car.

Lets call it like it is. Storm Shadow in the movie looks like a complete toolbox. They took probably the "deepest" charecter and made him look like a fool. Snake-Eyes looks pretty good but I would have opted for the no mouth look.

I know he is being played by Ray Park, the same guy who was Darth Maul so we can expect some impressive martial arts....I was just really crushed when I saw Storm Shadow...my fave charecter for 20+ years in the comic book, fave action figure and original cartoon charecter and they basically wrecked him.

Why the hell would a ninja ever have coat tails?!!?

Well, at least it's better than the first StormShadow outfit they made.

I never liked GI Joe as a kid (in the late 1960's) and by the time the 80's version rolled around I was not too keen on the pro-Reagan/military bullsh*t.

The whole franchise seems completely irrelevant now IMO.

I had a few of the 60s Joes including the talking astronaut but REALLY dug the Adventure Team stuff. Not much of a fan of the 80s cartoon. Thousands of bullets flying and every Joe comes away unscathed. At least thats what I remember watching it with my kid.
