I know he's not really UMA related, but one of my musical heroes and a tremendous talent, Kenny Rankin, has died at the age of 69, from lung cancer (and I don't know that he ever smoked) that was diagnosed only three weeks ago!
If you ever heard the songs So Peaceful Here, Haven't We Met, and a score of very unique and moody covers of songs from the Beatles, you know the sound and talent he had.
Just wanted to mention it. He was a hell of a talent. Sinatra once said, after seeing him live for the first time in the early 70's, 'When I grow up I wanna sing like that guy!'.
Sorry you got sick. Rest easy now.

Sure thing Mike, I remember Kenny well. A girl i was dating way back in the late 70's was a huge fan of his and i used to accompany her on guitar when she'd sing his songs at local clubs...If i remember right, Paul McCartney himself requested he perform some of his Beatles cover tunes when he was inducted into the songwriter's hall of fame in 1987[?] High praise indeed!... VERY depressing news.

I seem to remember a stunning rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." Sad news. He will be missed. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Mike.
