Were those the squishy rubbery toys that felt something like Creepy Crawlers?  I never like them much they felt like cold flesh.  My brothers had them.  I think they all found their way into the garbage.

Creepy Crawlers were made with a Mattel toy called a Thingmaker.  A liquid called Plastigoop was poured into a mold and cooked in a heater to harden.  They were a denser and more rigid type of rubber than these other toys, but same basic idea, yes.

Wow, I still have 2 of these, the 1st & 3rd monsters in the first post!

You know, one of the things I love about this board, is that I might never have thought of these thingies again, but I sure as heck had some of them. This is at least an 8.5 on the cool meter.

My music is for Phoenix. Only she can sing it. Anyone else who tries, dies.

Wow, I loved those. Like the rest of you all, I had so many throughout my youth.

Man, how entertained we were by those.

I had the old ones that went in the oven. So I was entertained with 3rd degree scarring.

I love those rubbers ugly toys.  I want to have those toys are really fitted on my collection. Those toys will be mine after this month.

We have one of the newer thing makers on the shelf here as does my friend.  He bought some old molds and the last time he was out we fired them up with the kiddos.  They worked great.  Got the goo from this guy:

Just make sure if you buy old molds that they are not too pitted or you creatures will be as well.

Monster Bob

My original Creepy Crawlers-made bumblebee circa 1965/66...

I found him cleaning out my Dad's house a few months ago. I hadn't seen this little bugger for close to 40 years, and he was my favorite CC (as far as how the colors turned out); I was amazed this guy still existed.

Monolith

Cool Bee-I remember making lots of those.
Here's a photo of me circa 1960's scaring my little sister with some rubber Thingmaker stuff on my face.

Monolith

I still have some old Mattel Creepy- Crawler and Thingmaker castings packed away somewhere, as well.
Also I still have these molds from 1966-Batman, Superman, Tarzan and a skeleton.Maybe I should get some new
Goop and cast some new ones.

I posted these awhile back, but they seemed relevant to this thread. I found these mint unopened sets at a drive-in theater flea market back in the late 70's or early 80's. They were old store stock, so they had never been opened. The tops slide off to reveal the unbroken plastic interior wrap. I'd love to tear into these things and cook up some bugs (I was quite adept at layering multi colors back in the day), but I guess I'll keep 'em pristine and eventually try putting them up on ebay (I paid five dollars apiece for 'em). Oh, and I got the Fighting Men set too.

Bogey

The Superman and Tarzan are great, but the Batman one when we were kids was a bit frustrating because there was not a figure in the mold.

Great pics!  She looks mighty terrified, yet not surprised by your actions. ;D
