? ? ? ? ?

In normal person speak, I lost two dogs last year. One of them a boy (as close to me as a brother) and the other a girl (my sister). The boy dog was with us for 18 years so we got him when I was around 4 years old and wasn't used to not having a dog in the house. After they both went, it was too quiet in the house without a dog and it got to be too hard so we adopted a new dog (new sister).

I value my canine friends so much more than normal people, I suppose. When I lost them both, it was like losing kin.

All I will say about today is that I am never painting again.

Painting sucks and how anyone can do interior painting and not want to put their head under a drill press at some point is beyond me.

Thank goodness for simple things....the UMA and Sangria.

I am never painting again!

It is sad to lose beloved Pets. I have lost many and it doesn't get any easier. My heart goes out to both of you and Gasport. HHW

Yeeaaahhh, but... you get enough of that sangria in you, painting becomes a whole new level of fun...

It finally stopped raining and I was able to assess my flooded basement...not to bad.

I'm pretty much on the same level DF. Our pup was like having a perpetual 3 Y.O so when she went it was almost like losing a kid. I know people who have never had a Dog or cat don't "get it" but when I came to work the next day and people asked when I was gonna get another one I truly wanted to deck them. u6juu
Some day - when the time is right and I find a mid size one that gets along with cats and won't chew up my horror props it will have a home for life.

Sorry to hear about that. Is it a finished one with a family room type set up? We have been lucky (knock knock). I do need to get a new sump pump before the current one craps out AND get a back up system. $$$

I have done the enviable job of cleaning the sump pit in the basement, in my old house. The house was built in 1910 before they laid the sewer mains - so they went right through the wall! The pump cleared the plumbing UP into the sewer. It was not a good day when the pump pooped out. But I'd buy that house back in a heartbeat...my Mom's ghost like it.

Spread mulch, pulled weeds--temps in the 70s for the next few days before we get a dip down into cooler temps again (it's not safely warm in southern Ohio until Mother's Day, usually--snowflakes on Easter aren't uncommon).  But anyhow, really good to get out and play in the dirt for a while.  And had great Korean lunch with Cuz Sara.  Kimchi soup, fried mandu (dumplings), and 8 or 9 sidedishes.  Good stuff!

I had the basement set up with sort of a family/extra bedroom type set up several years ago, but had to dismantle it because of previous flooding issues.  Now it just serves as my gym and workshop, primarily.  The sump was able to keep up pretty well, I was mainly concerned about my furnace but thats fine.

Tried to pressure wash some of my patio siding, cut my finger on a piece of flashing, went inside to stop the bleeding, and decided to stay inside with the AC on. And then read stuff on UMA that super sweet people post!

I spent 3 and 1/2 hours trying to get the lawn mower started. This time I lost. I have to do this every year.

Since we were out past midnight, this qualifies as "What we did TODAY". I took Jordan to his very first Drive-In movie!! We saw "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" (Very funny!) and had an absolute ball. Went to Walgreens and picked up munchies, went to McDonalds, then drove out for the 10 PM showing at the Lake Worth Drive-In.

A genuine blast from the past for me...........and Jordan loved it!! Even better, Wednesdays are half price, so 1 adult and 1 child came to a grand total of $4. Not each. $4 for BOTH of us.

Nancy has never been to a Drive-in either, but it started too late and she didn't want her mom up past midnight watching the kids, so we'll do it all together next time.

A fun, affordable, nostalgic way to see movies now that the cineplexes have pretty well priced me out of the market. And I dearly prefer seeing the movies under the stars anyway. With the economy as it is, wouldn't it be wonderful if Drive-Ins made a comeback because so many can't drop $50-$60 bucks to take the family to the theaters any longer?? Let's hope so, because it's a piece of our past that should never have gone away.

A terrific night!!

I love this story, Scatter!!  I too, have a date with Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I promised my grandson that I would go with him. His mom and dad have been reading the book to him at night, so he's familiar with the characters, ( I am Not). But going to the Drive-in would be awesome. :)

Thanks Charp!! I've been reading "Wimpy Kid" with Jordan for a while now, and I laugh my posterior off. FUNNY stuff!! I dug the movie too.........but the best thing was sharing the Drive-In experience with Jordan. A night we'll always remember.
