I'm sad to report the passing of yet another pioneering TV horror host, "Dr. Scar," played by Jack Jacobson, who was a local legend hosting horror and sci-fi movies, kid shows, telethons, and the usual mad melange of programs on KGUN in Tucson, Arizona, in the 60s and 70s. Mr. Jacobson died on Monday, March 23, age 87.

Here's a link to his obituary on my website (E-gor's Chamber of TV Horror Hosts) with links to his career bio, photos, a radio interview and some great clips of Dr. Scar in action! :

Just one of the hundreds of TV hosts seldom heard of or remembered these days outside the dwindling circle of fans who originally watched their shows many years ago. Catch him while you can!

There was an article on him in this morning's paper, here in Dayton. Evidently he also played Nosey the Clown on teevee in the 50's here in Dayton.
He also hosted a late night movie show entitled Your Evening Theater, and his character's name for that was Ignatz Hammerschlob.

Eh, I didn't grow up with Dr. Scar but I caught a few videos over the years and always thought the character, humor and creativity were peerless. He really was unique.
Sad to see another one go, but hey, a good long life loving what you do, can't feel too bad!

Rest easy now, Mr. Jacobson. Thanks for the thrills and the laughs.
