A couple of years ago I was doing art and design work for Ben Cooper-- on a conference call I was pushing for Mego Style figures of kids in costumes-- and they thought it was a terrible idea-- Neca apparently disagreed.  I also pushed a return to the classic monsters with Pez- BC Style-- they said verbatim "kids don't like scary things"--- absolute nonsense.  We have kids showing up for trick or treating dressed as Michael Myers, Jason and that idiotic black and white clown killer.

Kids love scary stuff-- and you'd bring in the adult collector too (I know I would have bought tons of Pez if they did them).
I'm sick to death of cutesy garbage like this-- and check the Pez offerings-- they are aimed at preschoolers and the sales reflect that.

I realize I don't have to buy it if I don't like it-- and I don't.  But man, just give the classic scary stuff a chance.

That's great that you work/did work for Ben Cooper. I love the look of the NECA Ben Cooper figures; however, I'm in Canada and I have unfortunately never, ever came across a single one of these in any of the stores here. I don't want to pay double or triple to get/have them shipped from the US to here. I've resigned myself to not being able to own any of them.

Yes, companies show definitely be giving the classic-styled monsters a chance. But as there's already a ton of Universal stuff out there, we also really need to have more Hammer, AIP, and other classic horror/monster stuff released.

Anyhow, I've been writing about monster and horror collectibles for over 20 years now. I'm just glad that's there's still new stuff being produced to write about.  I'm going to sign off with this comment. Happy Halloween to everyone.

Quote from: James Burrell on October 23, 2025, 11:08:14 AMI'm just expressing my bemusement on the seemingly strong dislike that Funko product and other "cute" contemporary merchandise like this seems to generate on here.
I'm not against Funko at all. I have the Mad Monster Party figures they released a few years ago and enjoy displaying them, mainly because they're based on the characters designed by Jack Davis whom I'm a big fan of. I also like a lot of stylized figures that could be considered "cute", like MPC Monsters, Palmer Monsters, Nutty Mads, Aurora monster rods, Rat Fink characters based on Ed Roth designs, and even Monster Niks (somewhat) based on the trolls popular in the '60s. We're a product of what most strongly imprinted on our brains when we grew up, so I'm a '60s/'70s person. True that I don't care for most of the newer cutesy toys, especially POP! style figures, but I don't care if they're made and enjoyed by other people. That's them and I'm of my own opinion about what I like.
ALWAYS MONSTERING...

Id just like to see some Super Deformed stuff.   Goofy, but with cool sculpts.     The monster niks or even like the old Funko Force figures. Silly but still looking like the the actual monsters.    I just think the buttoned eyed Pops  and cut out construction paper designs have run their course.

Its crap even by crap standards.

it can.  Have you seen the designs Uni Studios Japan has been using.    Horrendous and makes he 90s style guide look like Gogos paintings.
