DVDs won't play in 4x3 (1:1.37) on my BD

Some (all?) of my Academy ratio DVDs won't play, correctly, on my BD player. They stretch the image to fill the screen. They play fine on a DVD player, but it's not hooked up to the big screen. The 4x3 movies on BD play fine. Setting the BD player to 4x3 doesn't help, either. Anybody else have this problam, or know a cure?

Well, since you checked both the TV and BD setting, not sure what is happening.  Have you tried the BD on another TV?

DVDs are the problem. When played on the Blu-ray player, the 4:3 ones stretch to fill the screen. 4:3 movies on BD play fine.
