It's difficult to describe a VR game unless you have played one yourself.  I thought it would be like a 3d movie but it's different.  There is more depth to the image, which completely surrounds you.  If you look up, down, left, right, behind you, the environment is there.
Being inside a huge bat cave, flying the TARDIS and being stabbed in the leg by a hissing zombie girl in your face is quite an experience.
Any questions or gaming experience you wish to share?

I've only sampled VR, but that sounds interesting.
What ever happened to my Transylvania Twist?

It took me a minute to remember what "VR" means: virtual reality, yes? Is that
where you wear that weird contraption on your head and flail about at nothing?

Yes.  My head set is so light you hardly feel it.  The player also wears ear buds.  In Batman the opening scene is like a splash page.  You as Batman stand on top of Gotham City Police Department at night during a rain storm.  You look up at the cloudy sky and see rain coming down.  At your feet are water puddles on concrete.  You can see a zeppelin floating around and all of Gotham city.  Gotham gazette, bank, Vicki Vale billboards.  On the clouds is the batsignal and the spotlight is behind you.

The new generation of the playstation VR headset has been reviewed by some video game reporters.  The headset had not been released yet and is still in development.  It might be available early next year.  The reviews state the Resident Evil Village VR game is well terrifying.
I played a demo of Resident Evil 7 on my system.  You are tied up in a chair in a dingy kitchen.  A zombie girl gets within in inches of your face, breaths on you them stabs you thigh with a big kitchen knife.  You look down and see the blood flow out.  It's a weird sensation.
The new system is supposed to be even more realistic.  You can feel your hand being touched by the super tall vampire, zombie woman.
