So, I got a copy of a film for my monster movie collection, but to my disappointment, this copy was only released in Germany. What am I to do with it? Will a Blu-Ray player play it? Should I see the copy?

Yes. Invest in a all region bluray player.

A few years ago, a generous buddy of mine gave me a Blu-ray set of Universal Monsters... that I couldn't play in my then-current player due to it being a region-specific player. The timing was fine, however, because I was looking on getting a new player anyway.  I landed on this one:

$145 now, but when I got it in 2018 it was only $99. Works great.

Do you need to do anything to get it into a different region mode and then back again?

I have a region-free player that plays just about anything.

To re-set the player for different region BLU-Ray discs I must turn off the player and select the appropriate colored button.  When I turn the player back on, it will play whatever region I selected.  It will keep that setting until I want a different one.

For DVD's, no action is required.  They all play automatically.

Mine works the same way.

Doh!

Perhaps I made some sort of adjustment initially, but now I just pop in the Blu-rays and they play just fine, regardless. I don't have to tweak anything each time I play a new disc.

There are a lot more all region BLU-Ray discs now than there was when they first came out.

I've noticed that some BLU-Rays listed on Amazon that are automatically advertised as being exclusive to the country of origin get reviews from purchasers stating that they are actually region free.

I wish Amazon would always show the backs of discs - to verify regional coding and extras.

I also have this model and it's great.
