It's a funny thing....I like the Monsterizer, but I don't do variant paint schemes. A rule I made a long time ago. So, having not purchased the Remco paint variants, the Monsterizer doesn't tempt me.

So you are not planning to collect all 6 Monsterizer paint variants?

You, at least, have to get the B/W one and the G-I-T-D one!  ;D

Nah. I have the original Remco mini monsters, and the only one of the larger 8 inch Remcos I really liked was Wolfman. So the nostalgia isn't strong for me on the paint variant. I do like them, and I love the Monsterizer, but I am running out of room. Not to mention how expensive everything is now. I am happy for the folks nabbing them though. I can understand the appeal.

I've never been a variant chaser. I usually just get the color version, and leave the rest be, on Universal Monsters.

NECA is releasing action figure checklists the next 12 days as part of their "12 Days of Downloads". Today was TMNT, but I suspect the monsters will be one of the days. They suggest there could be "some surprises" listed in them, so maybe they'll reveal something new. Fingers crossed.

I believe that's where we first saw they were going to do Nosferatu and London After Midnight ultimate figures. Talons crossed for more. >:D

My GID "Remco" Dracula arrived mere moments ago and he is FANTASTIC.

I especially like that he had his Dracula ring on his left hand, even if it's not painted... that can be rectified quickly if anyone wants it (like me, heh)

The last three figures have terrific glow in the dark plastic whereas the first three suffered from uneven paint. Honestly? I'd be happy if they pushed Mummy, Wolf Man and Frank out again next year again with glow plastic. I doubt it'll happen... but it would be nice.

My GITD Dracula arrived today and it looks great, no surprises.

Granted, $100 is a pretty hefty price tag for this item; but it is still a small fraction of what vintage ones are going for; and I have made do with my version of the "poor man's" Monsterizer in the Mad Monster Clubhouse for too long, so I went ahead and ordered the item!  :) :) :)

When times are dark, don't consider art to be merely a distraction; rather, think of it as a lifeline-  Neil Gaiman paraphrase.

Lu led into a color creature on the wild today, finally.

No Creature toys are bad, even spares or ones with design flaws. But I gotta say, after having many quality ones of various sizes in my collection... this is, to me, hands down the best detailed version on this scale I have ever seen.

Hope we get another color version w/different colors and no red lips. The interview where Julia Adams called that coloring "garish" in one interview and it plays rent free in my head when I see those red smackers. 😂

I've seen a few things where people that worked on the movie said they saw the posters and such and said "...What's going on with the red lips?"

NECA posted their 2023 Universal Monsters Visual Checklist today as part of their 12 Days of Downloads. The only thing new is that they show the Loot Crate exclusive Wolf Man for the first time (I believe).

He looks perfect.  The BK tribute figures are all executed so well.

That is something that it seems everyone is missing or dismisses. Just because a make up was done a certain way for b/w filming doesn't mean that's how they wanted it presented in color. From lobby cards to the Life magazine photos to Mechanix Illustrated cover to the 1960's toys it's obvious Universal intended the Creature to have the red lips.

Anton Phibes

He will always be remembered as sporting red lips. The Aurora, and all the imitators of Bama's artwork as "inspiration" for the entire monster craze, saw to that. It made its way into the collective consciousness. Accurate or not. Art has power.
