SPFX looks like an improvement over the original.

Hell yeah!!! Can't wait. Two of my all time fav movie monsters. I love Kong, but worship Big G---so I def hope the green guy wins. Best case scenario imo, they fight, but then team up to fight third monster.

I agree. As a big fan of both, I'd rather neither one lost to the other. Fight the 3rd monster, then go their separate ways.

I watched this tonight and I rather enjoyed it. I'm sure there will be many who won't and I can understand why. I did smile a couple of times when they paid homage to some plot lines in King Kong v Godzilla (1962). I'll watch it again.

Watched it yesterday twice! I did enjoy it and movie wise this may be the better of the last 3. kOTM is still my favorite though. Some amazing fights in that one and KG was absolutely awesome!
As I told the wife, my gripes come down to the "humans" and their stories.  I just don't care! The little girl and her connection with Kong, fine , it helps advance the Kong story. The "evil" daughter of Apex. Sure why not. But the others I just don't care! I do give props to better acting in this one.
I also enjoyed how the use of MG was introduced and without giving anything away story spoilers, I totally was into the way it plays.
IMO, Hollywood will never get it totally rite with Godzilla. There's just something missing. Again as I told the wife, I can only compare it to like listening to a old vinyl lp next to a remastered cd. Sure a new CD sounds clear, loud and frequency amazing but a old vinyl lp even with a few pops, crackles and maybe even a skip just sounds more warm and natural.
I'm old, what do I know.  :)
Everybody needs to believe in something , I believe I'll have another beer!

I'm seeing it tomorrow night with my son and daughter. My son is a huge fan and will be our guide to Easter eggs, obscure references and other subtle information. For years the kids have endured me listing off arcane comic book knowledge so it's a great for me to be the audience rather than the presentation. I'm excited to see it and to enjoy family night with the kids!
Ps- I can totally relate to eviljim and vinyl pops! I recorded Edge of Seventeen onto a cd WITH the " pops" because that's the way I listened to it for years. It just doesn't sound right without them!

Saw it last night and loved it!  A real treat and I'm a huge fan of the original.  (My dad took me to a drive-in to see it first run. A great memory.) I was so psyched after seeing the new film that I ordered the blu ray of the '62 film.  I'll definitely be adding this new one to my collection as well when released.

Monster fans delight here! Great use of CGI all around and brutal battles between the two monsters, there IS a clear winner, but I wont spoil it here. Suffice to say that this is a worthy addition to the Monsterverse films, hopefully it brings in enough cash to justify more films.

Can't wait to see it!! I'm just debating whether to see it in the theater or at home. My wife is vaccinated but I'm not. So I'm still undecided about seeing it in public. Seems like it should be seen in the theater. I gotta think about it. But I'm def looking forward to it.  :)

Just watched it at home. OMG!!!! Two giant Gorilla thumbs up. I hope this does well enough financially to justify more Monsterverse films. More Godzilla and more Kong!!!

I saw it last week. I enjoyed it enough, but found it disjointed at times. It was also visually dark much of the time, which I found to be a distraction. Mecha-Godzilla brought out the Monster Kid in me, though!

Godzilla is grey.

Been thinking about it through the month.
Was honestly a little disappointed with the ending SPOILERS....

...just because I think the whole point of King Kong is that he can beat any creature, except man. Just as the opposite is true with Godzilla, man can never defeat him, only monster.
But I'm overthinking it too. Or maybe I'm just leaning on Team Kong too much.
Either way it was real great. Don't know whether or not I'd like to see more or leave the series here. If it includes more King Kong and Godzilla team ups then I'd be there.
Think there was some missed potential not having Rodan and baby Mothra in this film though. (Behemoth, too.)

Yes, I'm aware the original suit is grey. And yet when Godzilla pops into my head, I think he's green. I can't imagine why.
