Dick Dale was born "Richard Monsour" in Boston, 1937.  His left-hand playing an 'upside down guitar' style begged for surf-sounds, I think.  His was a powerful contribution both to guitar playing options and the music he generated.

Terrible news. He was a true guitar hero and surf music icon. It's horrible how the current musical climate shows disdain for the electric guitar.

He was among the best & a great guy, I'm told. Snubbed year after year by the R&R Hall of Fame.

I listened to his version of Riders in the Sky last night. I forgotten how great his take on the song really is. Dale combined two of the best parts about being a baby boomer- surfing and rock music. RIP

Lundy, I was looking up other snubs and while I know few of even HOF members, reading the arguments about those snubs is almost beyond comprehension.
