Super 7 "Official Universal Monsters Thread"

Passing. I think I am done with Super7 Universal now. I am going to get NECA's Nosferatu. Maybe they will make a Mutant, and maybe not. I have Super7's sodas, the Reaction figures, the AHI Creature tributes, the glasses and the stickers. I think I am good now.

I understand.  The NECA Nosferatu figure looks lot better than the Super 7 one.  No NECA Metaluna Mutant (yet??) And I'm passing on the standard color version (nice, but I AM hoping for a NECA one) but I did preorder the new Glow Mutant.  I love stuff that glows in the dark.

Concerning the mutant, it's been said the reason the mutant in no longer part of the Universal Monsters line is due to a lawsuit against Universal over the costume.  But then wouldnt new mutant figure have the copyright notice of whoever does own the copyright?  There's no copyright notice on them now.

Like I said; Only The Shadow Knows, and he doesn't do much talking these days.  Pretty soon Mickey Mouse from SteamBoat Willie becomes public domain. Gonna be interesting to see how that pans out.

Anthony at Tactic 2 Toys ebay store. He got a case last week. The world has not recovered from her ports fiasco, and covid, so its entirely possible something may not make it to page official photos and poof....just show up. World is still in utter chaos.

I've got a question for you, if you can tell by looking at your figure. Does the head turn or is the head and neck all one piece that will turn? I'm finally able to plan a custom but that will make all the difference. Thank you!

Well, it looks like it turns to me. Ive never taken any out of the box, but it appears it can be turned. I hope I am right,lol. Don't want to steer ye wrong.

A broken, unpainted, headless sample. I believe the head and neck, like all the rest of the ReAction UM figures, are one piece, just like Kenner's original Star Wars figures, but I've never held a WoL.

Got my Super 7 Werewolf Of London figure today from BBTS.  Very nice.  Prob the last "Universal Monsters" figure, tho he's apparently not considered a Universal Monster anymore.

LOL.  Like the Metaluna Mutant, somehow this character doesn't have any Universal logo on the packaging.  Maybe Universal just doesn't care about the lesser know characters anymore.  And possibly because the families of these long dead actors all want a piece of the pie.

I'm guessing Universal weighed the legal costs.  How much can they make off of these smallet characters vs how much to fight challenges in court. 

I heard that the Karloff estate sold the rights to Boris' image to Universal for characters he played in the Universal film.  So they can use Boris' image.  But I heard that the family of Glenn Strange now wants to license Glenn's image.  So do you think Universal is going to ok toys, masks, etc of the Frankenstein monster with Karloff's likeness or Strange's?  Gonna be Karloff since the own his likeness and the classic monster makeup design.
