Some pics of the X Plus War of the Gargantuas figure set. War of the Gargantuas is considered to be one of the greatest Kaiju films ever made. I recently watched it again after only seeing it from my childhood. The film is amazing. Great story and the monsters are awesome. I highly recommend it.

I watched this online based on Rob's recommendation. It has some genuinely creepy moments involving the ocean.  Like most Toho pictures, it also has some moments that are a tad hard to believe....but its a neat little flick. Great shots Rob!

Great pictures as ever thm, I'm not that familiar with this character although do recognize him, I'll have to track the film down now as it looks to be a good one.

Thanks for sharing,

Where were you before I bought the dvd? ;D You must be a wizard because Toho definitley has this film on lockdown. ;D

A note about the dvd. This dvd was released as a 2 feature dvd about 5 years ago. You get Rodan and War of the Gargantuas. It includes the English and Japanese versions. It originally retailed for like $9 from Best Buy. Now, to buy this new, on the high end is over $100. Average price for new is $60 - $80. However, with some crafty shopping, you can probably score a new one for around $45.

This was 1 of my favorites during my childhood.  I didn't realize it was a scarce dvd.  What a shame.  If you like Kaiju, this is a must see.  The backstory on the creatures is interesting as well.  The figures are dynamite.

Anton Phibes

The backstory on the Creatures is....they were mutated cells from Frankenstein Conquers the World. A plot point that was erased from the US release of the film.

If anyone cares this movie is streaming on the STARZ Chanel / Apple TV app!

If I recall if was originally a Frankenstein meets Godzilla movie and they had to change the name.

Which I find intriguing, regardless of whether it was buried.😎

IT IS! They supposedly reference FCTW repeatedly in the TOHO Japaneses release. But they dubbed it all away in the US. Boo! Only The Shadow knows why I suppose, lol! ;) 8)

Was the backstory also that the Green one was begotten from the Brown one?  For some reason I'm remembering something like that...🤔

They're brothers. Some of Frankie's cells made it to sea and muttaed and lived off plankton and things. The brown one lived in the mountains and was peaceful since it didn't have to spend its life fighting sea creatures, lol. Here's a cool tidbit for FCTW:
FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD (The Big Picture) by The Escapist - Dailymotion

Or just watch the whole movie if you're feeling Kaijuey. Sorry for slightly de-railing your thread Rob.

Thanks. The first film was Frankenstein Conquers the World. In that film, Frankenstein fought Baragon. War of the Gargantuas is sort of the sequel.
