Murders in the Rue Morgue - I'm starting to watch The Bela Lugosi Franchise Collection (again). This may be my favorite Universal collection.

DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

Mord

The Black Cat - Simply the most entertainingly perverse film of its time. Wonderful!

Hello Mord,

I love your post: The Black Cat - Simply the most entertainingly perverse film of its time. Wonderful!
I thought it was so good & funny that I posted it on my Facebook page. I did not use your name. I agree wholeheartedly.

Mord

Thanks, Anthony, that's a high compliment indeed.

Tuesday night twin bill:

The Walking Dead 1936 Warner Bros.
The Invisible Ray 1936 Universal.

I also threw in Jaws 1975 at 3:00am in commemoration of its 40th anniversary. How time flies.

Mord

"The Raven" & "The Invisible Ray" - Karloff/Lugosi double feature. Love 'em both. Total coincidence we watched the same film, Anthony. I'm just watching the Lugosi Collection in order.

Mord

"Black Friday" - Really oddball film. Gangster/sci-fi/horror/mad scientist genres mixed nicely (and you get Boris & Bela).

I can't really say that it's one of my favorites. Then again, neither is Night Monster 1942. Every time I look at it I find myself scratching my head. A great cast, but they seem to be in the wrong roles. However, the film boasts some music from The Ghost of Frankenstein and the best fog effects that I've ever seen! Can't win 'em all.

Thursday night:

Son of Frankenstein 1939. I love this film to death! Boris, Bela, Basil, Lionel, Josephine and Donnie. Topped with a colossal score by Frank Skinner.

Now that's a great Boris & Bela film that will be receiving a long-deserved 4k restoration this year.

Wow! That is great news. Any word on when? I guess a Blu-ray release in in order too?

Friday nigh:

Man Made Monster 1940.

Yes, I'm pretty sure it's Blu-Ray only, so far. They seem to be restoring the remaining Frankenstein (films...Son of, Ghost of, Meets the Wolfman, House of Frank/Drac). Hopefully we'll get them by Halloween (but more likely next year). Maybe they're planning a Frankenstein box set.

A Frankenstein Blu-ray box set would be awesome. I would pounce on that like a cat on a canary! Thanks for the info. I guess they're currently working on them now then. So glad to hear it.

Sunday:

The Wolf Man 1941.
