Ghost of Frankenstein

Bela really makes Son and Ghost for me. Ygor puts these two films on par with Bride and Frankenstein imo...

I'm with ya, brother. Ygor is my favorite Bela character. I know that's antiDracula blasphemy to many, but I like his Dracula very much. I just like his Ygor more.

I definitely consider Ygor Lugosi's best work. I loved Dracula, but I thought Ygor was a more complex and accomplished performance.

Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Invisible Man, Mummy, White Zombie, and Curse of the Mummy, all on Monday!

Out of complete boredom with the typical Netflix fare, I decided to revisit some classics over the long weekend. Most of my early stuff was on VHS, which was disolved in a recent move, so I haven't really watched anything pre 70's in ages. A lot of these I haven't seen since I was a kid. Now I'm totally (re)hooked and snatching up everything I can!

I have the Essential BD Collection and the Inner Sanctum Collection on the way from Amazon, and I'm looking into the 6 Legacy collections as well as the A&C stuff, The Mad Ghoul, and a couple of others. That should hold me over for a while.

To add to the madness, being a lifetime action figure collector, movies alone aren't going to fill this newly created void, so I'm also skulking around ebay and kicking myself for not getting into the Sideshow stuff earlier...

I should be broke by the end of the month week!  ;D

On the positive side you're getting the Sideshow stuff ASAP. Sideshow figures are the best, so I shudder to think what they will sell for in 10 or 20 years. As a general rule time is your enemy as a monster collector. The longer you wait the more you pay.

So true, HH. I was lucky enough to get all the Sideshow 8", 12" and quarter scales when they first came out at very good prices. They are so historically great, I would buy them all over again at today's prices, if I were ever to lose them.

I remember when they all went up, too, but I was too involved in my other collections at the time. Had to pick my battles and so forth.

Oh well, there's plenty of other stuff I bought for MSRP and later sold for much, much, more, so I guess it all evens out in the end, right? Thankfully, most of the 12" I want, other than the Mummy and Ardeth, aren't too much. I don't plan of getting into the 1:1 and Premium Formats, so that's a relief. right now I'm more focussed on getting more movies! I missed out on a great deal for the 6 Legacy collections by procrastinating, so the hunt is still on for those.

Watched The Mummy's Hand last night. I loved the original, of course, but I have to admit, some of these sequels are a lot of fun.

Last night on TCM:
"Bride Of Frankenstein"

Still amazing to watch. A true classic

Me, too! Was that the new, HD transfer made for the Blu-ray release?

Calling Dr. Death, Weird Woman, Dead Man's Eyes, The Frozen Ghost, The Ape, and The Living Ghost this weekend. I'd never seen any of the Inner Sanctum series before, I'm enjoying them, so far.
