Tried to get the tray last year but it was sold out.  Better head over to my World Market and try again before it's too late!

Found this Yikes In the Yard 36" Generic Frankenstein Motion-ette in my local Walgreens Pharmacy.

He is very lightweight.  His eyes light up red, music plays, he swivels his torso, swings his arms and his lower jaw moves.  He dances and sings in time to "Come On baby, Let's Do the Twist" - But sings "Come On Monsters, It's Halloween."

The tag price is $34.99, but the cashier gave him to me for half price.  (I'm not sure he was supposed to be included in the half-off items, but I didn't argue.)

Thought he was OK for $17.50.

He has BIG feet and is very stable.  The only thing missing is electrodes on his neck.  Think I'll find a couple bottle tops, paint them silver and glue them on.

Didn't see any others like him in the store.  Didn't see this line of figures on Walgreens site when I looked.  So have no idea what others Yikes In the Yard makes.  This is a Walgreens exclusive.

You could go wrong with this Seller:

Of course, unlike mine, the one he is selling is "rare".  I know it is because it says so right in the description.

(Evidently Shipping is rare in his parts, too.)

Good deal! But I think the cashier misinterpreted the sale, the current one is "Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off" on Halloween decor. Oh well! At the four stores I've been to, I think I've noticed only one Frankenstein at each store, just an FYI to anyone else who might go on a monster hunt.

I bought a Hanging Ghoul girl in Wal Mart for $10.  I don't have a picture but she looks really neat when unwrapped.  It a tree hanging decoration.

See this sort of thing all the time. Here's one for a resin "Life Size" Frankenstein "bust". $12.00 at Michael's craft stores and it's made out plaster, not resin.

For all you Frankenstein boils and ghouls, Spirit has these mini carved pumpkins that light up. There's a witch and skull also. The light inside flickers like a flame.

So you don't think the lantern he's holding is worth $81.50? :P

Found a nice little item at my local Albertsons Super Market.

This 9ΒΌ" figure was located in the shelves facing the greeting card section.  It is a premium from American Greeting Cards.  It can be bought for $9.99 - or it is free with the purchase of 3 American Greeting Cards priced $2.99 or above.  (Find any 3 $2.99 cards and get it for a buck cheaper - even if you throw the cards away.)

They must be some sort of plastic.  If you thump them they make a dull sound not unlike papier mache, but they are very solid and strong - not ceramic.

The wood pattern of the coffin goes all the way around the figure so there are no blank sides.  Nice for a free-standing figure or bookend.  Cut a slot in the top and a round hole in the bottom and use as a piggy bank.

There are 2 other figures with this coffin-backed design.  One is a Witch with a cauldron and the other is a Vampire who is stepping out from the coffin.  (Sorry, I didn't have a camera with me in the store.)

The tags on these say they are distributed by Albertsons, so they may not be available from other retailers.

aura of foreboding

I saw these at an Albertson's in another town last night.  I went to the one closer to me earlier in the day, and they didn't have them!

They don't always display them at the same spots.  In past years, the American Greetings Cards premium figures were displayed at the ends of the card isles or candy isles, up high.  Try looking around - or another Albertsons.

The ones I saw were in the middle of the Seasonal items isle, low down, almost hidden.  Funny, they had about 10 each of the Witches and Vampires - but only 1 Frankenstein.
