Tattoo, 1981 - BLU-Ray - Scream Factory - Scheduled Release Date:  July 14, 2020

Bruce Dern and Maud Adams.

A tattoo artist becomes obsessed with what he thinks is the perfect "canvas" for his artistry.

A twisted tale that has been unavailable for a long time.  Didn't think it would ever get released again during this era of the "me too" movement.  (Bet this one draws a few critical protests.)

Too early for extras.

I hope they get the AR right, this time! The IMDb says the original AR was 1.66:1. The one in the Universal 8 movie BD set says 1.78:1 and the R2 BD says 1.85:1.

Scream is listing it as "Various".  Looks like there will be more than one choice - doesn't say what they are, yet.

Why would you need more than the correct one?

Why would you need more than the correct one?

Probably because the theaters used more than one.  Like the Universal Sci-fi movies that were shown in both 1.85:1 and 2.00:1 when they were initially released.

I'm guessing the 1.66 British format was shown in American theaters with a 1.85 mask.

I'm just talking about DVDs, though. Use the AR that the filmmakers wanted it to be shown at. I know, people get all upset if they have to look at black bars. OMG, just shoot me if I have to look at a black bar!

SHOUT says that they are working with a new transfer of the film.

Invisible Man, The, 2020 - BLU-Ray, Universal - Scheduled Release Date - May 26, 2020

       Also available in 4K.

It's The Invisible Man;  it's Universal; it's in color; it's in stereo!  But..., it doesn't have Claude Rains.

I know some of you weren't thrilled by this movie.  But, if you weren't looking for an updated re-telling of the 1933 classic, would you still think it was a stinker?  What if it were made by Warner Bros. and peddled as a straight thriller with touches of sci-fi elements?  Would you still dislike it?

     Special features

-Includes Blu-ray, DVD and a digital copy of The Invisible Man (2020) (Subject to expiration. Go to NBCUCodes.com for details.)
     -Deleted Scenes
     -Moss Manifested
     -Director's Journey with Leigh Whannell
     -The Players
     -Timeless Terror
-Feature Commentary with Writer/Director Leigh Whannell

I'm glad it's out on BLU-Ray.  I don't go to theaters - haven't in many years.
