Gremlins, 1984 - 4K & BLU-Ray - Warner Brothers - Scheduled Release Date:  October 1, 2019

Last week was the 35th Anniversary of Gremlins' release (June 8th).

Too early for Extras info.

If you don't already have a BLU-Ray copy of Gremlins, you might want to wait until October 1 and get a 4K copy as well.  May as well have the next generation version on hand, even if you don't have a 4K TV and player - yet.

The price of 4K and BLU-Ray combos are getting down to old BLU-Ray and DVD combo levels.

Might as well wait for the 8K version (just a couple of years away). I'm so sick of "upgrading" everything. I still marvel over the innovation of flip- books.

Just saying, If you don't already have it on Blu-Ray...

Why buy a BLU/DVD set and be stuck with a DVD?  Buy a 4K/BLU set for the same price and be ready for the next phase.

I already have a 4K Smart TV, but never bought a 4K player because they used to be much more expensive and there was little 4K product out there.  Since I don't have a copy of Gremlins in any form, thought I pick this one up.  The pre-order price has already dropped to $26.  I'm sure it will go lower.

I'm not critical of you, Adam, just the system. Sure, if you don't already own it, that's the best option. Btw, do 4K players play blurays and dvds, too?

I think so.  They usually engineer stuff not to exclude older tech.  People would be reluctant to buy otherwise.

Imagine if they made Blu-Ray players that rejected DVD's or stereo record players that couldn't handle mono.

Universal Horror Collection: Vol. 2 will have Murders In The Zoo, The Mad Ghoul, The Mad Doctor of Market Street and The Strange Case of Doctor Rx....

The Extras for Vol. 2 are skimpier than the previous Volume.

NEW Audio Commentary With Author/Film Historian Greg Mank
          Still Gallery

DISC TWO: MAD DOCTOR OF MARKET STREET
          Theatrical Trailer
          Still Gallery

DISC THREE: THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. RX
NEW Gloriously Wicked: The Life And Legacy Of Lionel Atwill Featurette
          Still Gallery

DISC FOUR: THE MAD GHOUL
NEW Audio Commentary By Film Historian Thomas Reeder

I hope there is a Vol. 3...  But I also hope they go back to heaping on the Extras.

Why they didn't include "Man Made Monster" (or one of several others), instead of "The Mad Ghoul" and have an all Atwill set, is beyond me.

Of all the Joe Dante films. Gremlins is the lamest film. Gosh darn it! Wow! Another release for Gremlins. Well, fans of the film will eat-that-s***-up.

An unnecessary remake of the Steve McQueen classic  -  But an OK movie in its own right.

I don't need an OMEN collection, as I really only like the first movie. Second movie has a great soundtrack album, though.
