Is that FJA giving the seller the middle finger? I think he should if he's not.

Yep. That's ridiculous alright.

What is the fair market value for a loose Horrorscope in nice condition now? I checked eBay for sold listings and the only 2 that came up were those repros from that samjo guy.

What about a real one still MIB? What would a collector expect to pay realistically?

At least every auction has a "or best offer" added. I think they are just looking for that one chump with too much $$ that just HAS to have an item. I don't know much about some of these vintage toys but I would guess the loose horror scope should be in the $800-1000 range. The rest of their auctions in the 10-15% of asking price.
Just my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of '60s MPC monster toys. The Haunted Hulk is my favorite, and I also love the Pop-Tops, Unbreakable Weirds, Horror House Target Set, etc. That said, the amount I would be willing to give for a loose Horrorscope is probably far less than current retail. To me the real value of the Horrorscope is in the original package graphics. Even so, I would only be will to pay around $500.00 for a MIB Horrorscope, which is WAY less than retail I would assume.. maybe around 1/10th. I doubt I would give over 100 bucks for a nice loose one with all the cards. I just think some of these toys are WAY overpriced, at least for what I would be willing to pay. I might give 2 grand for a nice boxed Haunted Hulk.. but not a Horrorscope, or that MPC Monster Checker Game either.

I think a lot of the reason for what collectors are willing to pay for a piece has to do with whether or not they had it, or wanted it, when they were a kid.

BTW, I wouldn't be interested in those high priced repros at all. For me to buy a repro it would have to be really cheap, way cheaper than what it could be made for. If it isn't real then it isn't worth much. You could display a nice looking fake, but you would always know it's a fake. Fantasy pieces done in the style of similar originals would be much more desirable to me than faked originals.

Even I have to chime in on this one!!  I thought when I saw that price that it was going to be a one of a kind prototype or something. I would really like to know what "this" seller is thinking here. Then I thought that maybe he made a "typo" error when he listed the price.  Heck, the last Famous Monsters cover art by Ron Cobb issue #54 months ago sold on e-bay for I think close to 14,000.  I know we're talking some big bucks here, but, in reality, it's a real "no-brainer" as to which one I'd rather own, given the choice. The only drawback is though that I think the cover art would have gone higher, but, all we have is the ending price on it.

There's a house that the bank foreclosed on around 8 miles from ym house that can be had for less than this.  This fella is stark raving mad.

I had this toy as a kid, and I wouldn't even pay $100 for it. It's one of the most overrated of the vintage horror toys. Give me a teal Marx set or Frankenstein bike buddy any day over this.

It's not desirable because it plays 3 second clips of 4 movies. It's the design and the graphics and the rarity and the overall nostalgia of the thing. I buy Castle films just for the boxes. I don't even care if there's a film inside.

Pretty much. More like an old nickelodeon.

I paid $750 for my loose one 5 years ago, and $1500 for my boxed one. Not sure if those are representative prices, but they seem the right ballpark

I agree the Horrorscope is more desirable and better looking with the box.
That said, I am trying to get one loose or boxed, as I have a loose Hulk and MIB Horror House.
That would give me the Big 3. But, yes 25K is complete insanity, and frankly a bit insulting to the toy itself.
