Ditto. A co-worker keeps recommending "The Strain". Synopsis: A team investigates a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an evil strain of vampirism. Created by Guillermo del Toro so it must be good.

Yeah The Strain is pretty good. A little slow this year, but you have these gnarly looking vampires that bleed worms when decapitated. So you know show can't be that bad. I also like how they show how government deals with outbreak in real time. With Walking Dead, the S#*t already hit the fan by the time series started.
Same reason why I'm looking forward to Fear the Walking Dead series.

Back to the Strain, it's interesting how Guillermo del Toro blends Sci-fi and gothic horror.

You guys know I'm a DC Comics geek, so I'll check out Supergirl too.

The thing to keep in mind about The Strain is the main character, Ephraim Goodweather, is a an arrogant jack ass and a complete screw up. In the final book the other characters are basically carrying his drunken, drug addled ass to the final battle because by the last book is just a complete mess.

Also, elderly vampire slaying Luchadores!
It is the year of our lord 2015, I have yet to stop being pissed by the NBC Dracula.

They sure cleaned that up for TV!

He's a drunk, too?

We're getting into spoiler territory now but trust me, if the series follows the books Eph's going to get much worse. His drug use started some time between books two and three after the vampires score a major victory and our heroes take heavy losses.

Also I don't think Silver Angel is a drunk, but he's kind of a mess as well. His knee was broken while filming a movie (ironically, a vampire movie) and his career is long over. The vampire outbreak is his last chance at making his life meaningful again and he rises to the occasion.
