I ordered a tin off Newegg, $7, no tax, and free shipping.  According to a blog, the prize is a puffy monster sticker. Cool enough!

Which is which?

Went to a Rite Aid Drug Store and was saddened to see barely one side of one half of an isle devoted to Halloween, and all generic junk.  But they did have 3 full isles of Christmas items and the top of the shelves in the toy isle was covered with large Christmas figures.

Stopped by a Stater Brothers Supermarket and was astonished to find that they did not have a single Halloween item in the entire store.  There were pumpkins in the produce section and one cardboard display for bags of candy that  they had allowed the candy salesman to erect in front of the checkout stands.  That was it.  I checked the store twice, thinking I must have missed their "Seasonal" isle.  Nope, nuttin'.

The Dollar Tree Store got the little motion-sensor Crows I ordered online.  They work great!  I was afraid they would sound lousy like the little owls I found in one store, but these actually sound like crows.  I recommend them.

I went to a Party City yesterday and was very underwhelmed by their selection (a whole lot of clichéd Star Wars crap). I'm crossing my fingers that the pop-up Halloween stores hold some nice surprises this year.

The vintage figure is on the left, they tend to be more translucent than the more recent versions.

Looks like the new moldy has crisper detail.  Is that because of the color difference, or do they look better in person?

Maybe the new ones are being made from better molds.

Stopped in my Walmart across the street tonight for a few things on the way home and there's still a couple of each blow mold left.  However, I noticed a few paint scuffs or blemishes on them from being knocked around on the shelf, but easy enough to retouch.  If someone here is really fixated on these and HAS to have them, I don't mind picking them up and shipping them. I think we have supply boxes at work that would fit them.  I wouldn't think the shipping is too bad as they're obviously light.  Now, I'm no blow-mold-buying-pro, so I'm not sure if this is anymore cost effective than getting others elsewhere.  Just thought I'd offer as there seems to be a lot of buzz about them.  Zombie Grin

My local Spirit Halloween Store had some great animatronic figures. Not all my pics caught them in action but they were really cool, especially the Cerberus which had light up eyes, smoke spewing mouths and great growling audio. Wish I would have caught that in action. This was one of the better Spirit stores I've been to, really big with a lot of stuff!

This sound activated zombie came with a gun which made a gunshot sound and the zombie would fall. You just have to pretend the gunshot wasn't there before hand.  :)

So the new ones have better definition? From the pic, the vintage one's detail seems softer

Went to World Market, picked up 2 Frank and Bride sodas, a Creature sucker, a bat skeleton, sugar skull salt and pepper shakers, spell book cookie jar and a box of caramel apple sugar babies

I'd say they're pretty similar, the new ones are thicker plastic and a bit more sturdy with sharper paint lines where the vintage ones look like they were painted freehand. Probably the the thickness and color of them that makes the new ones look more defined. A little less glossy as well.
