Well, I bought the "Thrillers From the Vault" 8 film collection, and I am pleased with it. I enjoyed the commentary of "The Black Room", and the featurette on that disc. I had no idea how "The Raven" (1935) and some other horror films had outraged British censors so much, Horror films got a ban in England during the later 1939. With these films not getting much play in Britain, it reduced revenues, and discouraged their production in the US. Apparently, double billing "Frankenstein" and "Dracula" at a theater proved so popular, it had Universal reconsidering making horror films again.

Hit a Goodwill yesterday to look for some old games, and I ended up finding a DVD copy of the Criterion Collection version of the Japanese fantasy/horror film House, and a copy of Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.  Haven't seen either.  I'll take em!

Lunkenstein

Just got this wonderful series for about $20.00 at Amazon.

Well, I'm glad I bought this. The films are a fun watch, and some (But not all) have commentary. I had never seen "The Boogieman Will Get You" before, and I enjoyed Karloff and Lorre together in this. On the commentary for "The Black Room", they made the point that outrage in Britain over films like "The Raven", led to a ban in Britain on American made horror films for a couple of years. The ban in Britain, meant American studios were less likely to make horror films in the states, since the box office there, affected how profitable these films were. This changed, when a theater in the US did a double bill of "Frankenstein" and Dracula", brought about the 1939 Horror film revival.

Kino is having a sale.  I'm ordering Son of the Blob, because I think it's the only real option for that movie.   An anyone tell me if their Hunchback version is worth getting?  Ive read that their Nosferatu is not a great version, so I wasn't sure.

I ended up blowing my tax return on the scream factory box set sale.  Got The Fly Collection, Universal Horror volumes 2 and 3 to bring me closer to finishing those sets, and the big Friday the 13th box set, which is going to replace my incomplete 8 movie Wal Mart DVD set.  I haven't bought a bunch of horror movies in a long while.  Looking forward to watching everything.

I dont know if they're even horror movies or not, but Arrow was also having a sale this week, so I ordered the 2 pack of Japanese Invisible Man movies, Invisible Man Appears and Invisible Man vs. the Human Fly.  I'm sure they'll be interesting, at the very least.

My CATMAN came today.

I don't think I have ever seen this. Is there an actual "monster" in it or is it more akin to She Wolf of London?
