Awesome, H.H.
Thanks, mars.

I was on the fence about these since there are no special features except the trailers, but the picture quality alone makes them desirable. The transfers are excellent. I just wish Warner would have given us some commentaries and other little extras.

In a perfect world we would have every Hammer movie on Blu-ray with all the bells and whistles, but unfortunately the rights are spread around to so many different owners that we just get a piece at a time. For Hammer maniacs we'll take what we can get. Now, if we could just get Curse Of Frankenstein and Horror Of Dracula all Blu-rayed out with a plethora of special features.  ;)

Some NEWS:

Kino Lorber to release Hammer's One Million Years B.C. (1966) on Blu-ray!

http://www.dvddrive-in.com/index.htm

No details yet, but I'm really looking forward to this. My only copy of this Dinokid classic is from AMC Monsterfest 2000. I taped it when it aired and then burned it to disc a few years ago. I never bought the 2004 Fox DVD because it's the truncated 91 min. US release and devoid of extras except for a restoration comparison (I like my Monsterfest version better).

Hopefully Kino will favor us with the uncut 100 min. UK version and lots of cool extras.  :)

This showed up today.

This obscure Spanish Horror film (aka The Butcher Of Binbrook) from 1971 was released by Independent International back in the '70s and later released by Image as part of the EuroShock Collection. The English dub, and probably silly censorship cuts, have rendered this confusing to many, but I love these weird Spanish Horror flicks and I plan to dive in tonight. I recognized Victor Israel, a Spanish Horror mainstay character actor when I was checking out the disc briefly. I'm trying to complete the Image EuroShock Collection on DVD, and I'm getting close.

I ordered this used from an eBay seller and it arrived as I expected it would- only the generic DVD case needed replacing. The disc is "as new" and the outer sleeve and cardboard insert are fine. I replaced the case and it's good as new. It was cheap, too- $3.35 plus cheap shipping. In the old VHS days I never bought used tapes because the chance of them being damaged was too great, but used DVDs are usually okay as long as the sleeve is alright and the inserts/paper extras are present. Sometimes the DVD case takes a beating so it needs replacing. I bought a box of 20 DVD cases (and 10 BD cases, and 10 4-disc DVD cases) for that reason.

These rolled it today.

A Candle For The Devil (1973) is the uncut version of the PD It Happened At Nightmare Inn. It also features Lone Fleming which is always a good thing.

I bought that cheap 6 movie set for Night Of The Demon (1980) which is really a gory bigfoot movie. The Code Red DVD is OOP and pricey. That Code Red stuff goes OOP before you even find out about it sometimes.

Finally picked up one of the UniMon 30-Film Collections.

Since I have the old Legacy Collections, and the Blu-ray set, I've been waiting for a very cheap price on this. I finally pulled the trigger at $55 with free shipping. At least all the DVDs are one-sided so that's an improvement right there. I mainly just bought it to add this new version to the collection, but I'll probably check out some of these discs over time. It's always nice to revisit the Universal Classics.

I offered the guy $55 and he sold it to me. There are several similar deals on eBay right now. These are supposed to be trending at around $65 but you can easily find them cheaper.

These arrived today (all unscathed, to my astonishment  :o). That should do it for my disc binging. Lots of foreign trash entertainment to enjoy now.  ;)

A couple rolled in off eBay today.

Psycho Blu-ray Steelbook:

And, the 1999 Image Strangler Of The Swamp DVD (love Rosemary La Planche in this  :)):

That pic is off Amazon. Anyway, the Strangler DVD is in the old heavy cardboard snap-over case and it's in "like new" condition. It's like going back in time 17 years and finding this on the shelf at Media Play. That finishes my 11 PRCs on DVD. Got this one for $12.99 with free shipping and bought the other 3 Image PRC releases new back in the day. Those things are a bit of a beyotch to find these days at a reasonable price.

The Brute Man

A truly terrifying movie. He terrorized his victims by wearing an over abundance of Brut cologne.  :o
