If you want you pics smaller, just do your opening code like this. Change the number to anything you like.

Not sure if this qualifies as "news", but my local WalMart has the Legacy Collection 4 disc reissues back in stock at $16.99 ea. I had SO many issues with the two sided discs I will probably pick up the Frank and Drac sets again just to have the sequels in playable condition.

My curiosity about the Universal Monsters blu-ray restorations has gotten to me, and I ordered some from Amazon.  Occasionally the prices drop substantially on these things.  I really want to see (and hear) the restoration of Dracula.

I have various older versions of the film, so if the restoration is too wonderful, I can always go back to a scratchy, dusty transfer.  Nice to be able to make a choice.
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

There is nothing like the restored Universal Monster blu rays. I was watching The Wolf Man yet again the other day, and still couldn't get over how nice it looked.

Now if they would just do the same for the legacy DVD's.

I'm pretty sure you speak for all of us.

Memphremagog

Got this from Ebay this week for a wonderful $15.00! The usual asking price for this OOP title is anywhere from $35 through $60 easily. I happened upon this copy at the right time as the seller had just posted it. Another rare title down!  :)

This is how it is, folks: I don't really get excited about new releases these days.  Not that often, anyway.  Too many times I take a chance on something, hoping I will like it, and I get disappointed.  (That's not true of every modern film I see!  Just most of them.)

But I am waiting for the set of restored Universal Classic horror films to arrive in the mail.  I have heard all about how good they look and sound, and have seen some samples.  And I'm as giddy as a little kid to see these.  If I have always known these films as dusty, fuzzy, scratchy things--and loved them just as they were--I can only imagine what seeing 2x or 3x the detail will be like.

I have seen "Creature from the Black Lagoon" on Blu-ray in both its 2D and 3D versions (bought it separately some months ago), and that looks fantastically clear.  Particularly, of course, the 3D version, which I had never been lucky enough to see the polarized version of on the big screen--the way those 3D images display all that depth.......the 3D version is just phenomenal.  For that picture, all the elements came together so beautifully.

I think those older classics from the 30's and 40's will be just as fantastic!
Beautiful moving, shifting colors!

The 8-film Blu Ray set.  I just took a look at The Wolf Man and Dracula.  Wow, they look so clear and clean!  Wow.

The Mist 2 disc Collectors Edition. While this isn't a new release I just watched this last night and man is this a great film. One of the better horror films of the new millennium. The collectors edition Blu-ray comes with a second disc that has the movie in B&W and this movie really lends itself well to that old school look. Either way, color or B&W it's just a terrific film, very scary. Highly recommended!

I'm a sucker for horror films that take place in supermarkets or shopping malls. It makes the scares seem more relatable since they're commonplace locales. Mob mentality is the real monster in "The Mist".

*SPOILER ALERT*

I was never so happy as when Ollie the grocery store clerk shot that religeous fanatic woman Mrs. Carmody in the head. She was scarier than the monsters!  :o
