Another hint: it starts a guy who was in quite a few sci-fi b-films of the '50's..
DARK SHADOWS:

David Collins: "Dead people dont just get up and walk around.."

Sarah Collins: "Sometimes they do."

That's where I saw that. I knew I had seen that Barney Fife lookin' dude somewhere. I was just too lazy to do the research.

Watch this comparison between scenes from DELUGE and THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW.

Deluge(1933) + The Day After Tomorrow(2004) = Disaster scene

That's the one.

Some pretty impressive miniature work from the same year as "King Kong".  Shame it is not more widely available.

It was considered "lost" for decades. Only some of the FX shots, that were cut into a serial, could be scene. A few years ago a print was found in Italy, but it has the dialog in Italian.

It is available on YouTube - lousy copy.

I have an old VHS I bought from Monsters In Motion.  I discovered it there when I was shopping in their retail store.  It deserves to be better known for its special effects alone.  The plodding plot isn't very entertaining.

1933 was one heck of a year for fantasy films.

Think about it! King Kong (and Son of), Mystery of the Wax Museum, The Ghoul, Murders in the Zoo, Island of Lost Souls, The Invisible Man, The Vampire Bat. What else?
