I love this. But when the guesses dry up, can you do what Forry Ackerman used to do for the same game in Famous Monsters of Filmland? He'd give an anagram of the film as a clue!

Hope I did that anagram right.  I'll continue to provide clues until some BODY gets it.   ;D
 

What've we got so far? 
This film is after 1940, fangs were added by the newspaper that printed this photo more than 20 years before THE TERROR (1963) probably to look like THE TERROR from 1930s films.

Sad thing is, I've seen "The Smiling Ghost".  It is one of six movies on a 2-disc set from Warner Bros. and I have it in my collection.  I guess it did not make all that great an impression.
