My letter goes to post immediately.  Talked to Forry back in 1993 when Vincent Price was ill , in his voice there was such compassion for the men who made so many of us have delightful memories of childhood, and such wonderful fascinations for all things fantasi-film.  Forry is tops in my book.  Thanks for this Robert, you're aces too.

I'll have a letter ready to go out in tomorrows mail, but I do so with a sad heart. A heart that hopes our Uncle Forry (aka Dr.Acula, Mr.Monster, ect.) makes it through this.  I grew-up on the movies at an early age, but it was FJA who supplied me with the back-ground information on the actors lives and behind the scenes articles through Famous Monsters. There's so much knowledge I've gained, that I would never have learned if not for his efforts. I've only met Forry a few times (Monster Bash), but I can honestly say that in a way I grew-up with this man. Forrest J Ackerman has given us so much, and I only hope our letters give HIM strength to pull through this.  My prayers go out for his recovery.

I received this from Bill Warren:

"Beverly and I went by Forry's today.  He was alert and responsive but didn't say much.
Joe Moe told us privately that the house is now in a "hospice situation," which I assume means a death watch.
He also said that Forry is quite aware of this, and okay with it--he feels he's lived a long, productive and happy life,
and is facing death without any fears.  We stayed a while; Forry's lawyer took care of some papers with him privately while
we chatted on the patio in back.
(I didn't know there WAS a patio in back.)  Before we left, I was able to say
a few things to Forry that I've held back (good things), on the assumption we may not meet again.
However, Beverly and I do plan to go back there tomorrow and maybe the next day as well."

So send cards, folks. Now is the time:

I'm told now--he is sleeping more, and speaks with difficulty, shortness of breath.  Ray Bradbury, who attended an award function, later stopped by and spent an hour with him yesterday, and then went home and went to bed.  Ray is 88, and certainly Forry's oldest protege.  I'm glad he got to visit for one last time.

This really makes me sad, although we should all be so lucky as to have lived such a wonderful life. When his time finally comes, may he go in peace, and without pain. God bless you, Uncle Forry.

Word from--as Forry loved to call it--"Horrorwood, Karloffornia"---Forry is fading from here--the white light is growing stronger in Metropolis.

Forry Ackerman is one of the most beloved mentors we Monster Kids ever had, or could ever hope for.  A lot of the history of the Monster Movies I learned from Forry and FM at an early age.  This one Man probably fed my continuous monster obsession, and taught me more facts, than anyone else in all the world. This is probably true for a lot of us who grew-up in the `60's and `70's. A part of our universe is about to fade away, and I can only hope that a miracle occurs in time somehow. My hopes and prayers continue to go out for him, as well as my tears, hoping beyond hope for his recovery.

Extremely well put. We Monster Kids appear to be on the verge of losing our belived Uncle Forry. It's a sad time for us but I do take some comfort in the knowledge he'll be back amongst friends soon.

Oh dear, this is a moment that I've dreaded for a long, long time. I pray he can hold on a bit longer, but how much more can any one man give? I feel selfish in even asking for such a thing. May God bring him comfort.
