I remember how much fun it watching the show first run. I was in 7th grade and we had just moved. It was great coming home from school to catch it each afternoon. I recently DVR'd the movies they made in '70 and '71. Looking forward to seeing them as it's been ages.

I recently rewatched House of Dark Shadows. Enjoyed it alot but it does feel a little too fast paced due to the sloooooooooooow pace of the show. Ha!

I may be asking Santa for The Walking Dead on DVD.  My wife has never seen it.  She wants to try.  I'd start watching Season 1 with her.  I saw Seasons 1-3 without her.

Monsters For Sale

Just finished watching:

"Monsters"

The complete re-mastered anthology series from "Tales from the Darkside" Executive Producer, Richard P. Rubinstein.  Three seasons, 72 episodes on 9 discs, that originally aired 1988-1990.

The show plays a lot like episodes of "Eerie, Indiana" with story quality that is kinda uneven from week to week.  Overall, I enjoyed them.  Suitable for the younger crowd.  Billed as a horror show, it has a good sprinkling of science-fiction tales.

Each show opens with a family of monsters settling down in front of their TV to watch their favorite program.

With Guest Stars like: Adrienne Barbeau, Linda Blair, Tempestt Bledsoe, Steve Buscemi, Gina Gershon, Frank Gorshin, Pam Grier, Rich Hall, Deborah Harry, Ashley Laurence, Darren McGavin, Meat Loaf, Rob Morrow, Laraine Newman, Tom Noonan,  John Saxon, Tony Shalhoub, David Spade, Tori Spelling, Jerry Stiller, Lili Taylor, Meat Loaf, Barbara Billingsly, Imogene Coca, Soupy Sales, Fritz Weaver, Troy Donahue, Carol Lynley, Anne Meara, Karen Valentine, Abe Vigoda, Wil Wheaton, Richard Belzer, Eddie Bracken, Morton Downey, Jr., Russell Johnson, David McCallum, Peggy Cass, George Wallace, and lots of solid character actors whose faces you will recognize, even if you don't know their names.

#536
Ghost Story  (AKA Circle of Fear) - 1 Season, 1972-1973  (23 episodes)

This was an hour-long anthology series on NBC

Created by Richard Matheson and Produced by William Castle Productions

Winston Essex (Sebastion Cabot) of Mansfield House (Hotel del Coronado) introduced the first 13 episodes of "Ghost Story".  Then the series changed its name to "Circle of Fear" and dropped Cabot's pleasant Rod Serling-like role for ugly animation and teeth-jarring music for the remaining 10 episodes.

The 13 episodes of "Ghost Story" stuck closely to tales of hauntings, possessions, voodoo, vampires, gypsy potions and the like.

The following 10 episodes of "Circle of Fear" sometimes veer off into complicated tales of disappearances and murder plots.

The episodes:

The New House (Pilot)
The Dead We Leave Behind
The Concrete Captain
At the Cradle Foot
Bad Connection
The Summer House
Alter-Ego
Half a Death
House of Evil
Cry of the Cat
Elegy for a Vampire
Touch of Madness
Creatures of the Canyon
Time of Terror
Death's Head
Dark Vengeance
Earth, Air, Fire and Water
Doorway to Death
Legion of Demons
The Graveyard Shift
Spare Parts
The Ghost of Potter's Field
The Phantom of Herald Square

Featured guest stars such as Patty Duke, Meg Foster, Helen Hayes, Angie Dickinson, Janet Leigh, James Franciscus, Carolyn Jones, Susan Oliver, Jason Robards, John Aston, Patricia Neal, Doug McClure, Martin Sheen, Melvyn Douglas, etc.

I wish they had stuck to the original openings and had gone on for another season.  Maybe they could have polished their story-telling and gained an audience.  As it was, it did not last long enough to go into syndication and probably has been seen by few of you.  I discovered it for the first time on DVD.

Kinda dated, but not bad.
