They've been selling those likenesses for over 50 years. Did I miss a lawsuit? No Chaney ever created the WM makeup. If Universal is giving stuff away, I'll take The Creature!

I'm just noticing that the Rock Rebel WM pin only has a Chaney copyright. Maybe they have an arrangement with Universal.

Didn't Bela Jr. have something to do with getting past Universal stars families rights to their likeness on merchandise or something along those lines.

I think the way he gets around Uni, is in the costume. As long as he doesn't use the Universal "jewelry", a tux is a tux and a cape is a cape.

The Rock Rebel Wolfman, Mummy & Phantom pins all list only Lon Chaney Entertainment. Dracula just Bela Lugosi and Frankenstein, Bride & Creature are all Universal

I think the Chaney Phantom has fallen into public domain, so all they have to do is secure likeness rights.  Wolf Man is a stumper though.  I figured they still owned him.

Everyone I see nowadays looks like they are dressing as the Phantom.

Come to think of it, most of them are sporting longer hair, too.

The movie has been PD for a while, that's why they never include it in any of the DVD sets. I thought, maybe, they had TM the face for merch, though?

I thought something had changed recently since Chaney Phantom merch had suddenly stopped happening and all of a sudden Universal started making Rains Phantom stuff, which I don't think I had ever seen merch for previously.

We got some of the Keshi blind boxes at work.  I got 2 of each wave.  Got a Bride, an Invisible Man, a Phantom, and a Masque of the Red Death! 

Pretty happy.  Gonna nab some more soon.
